Yeah, like the last thing I'd expect to hear around here. I have no problem going back to PSX games at all. In fact if we really want to boil this down, I think it's easy to argue a lot of PSX games actually age and look better than N64 games because many of them used still backgrounds that look amazing to this day. Lots of pseudo 2D/3D stuff in PSX games, when the N64 kind of went all out with full 3D most of the time.brunoafh wrote:Yeah... I don't understand that logic either.noiseredux wrote:what??? WHAT???BoringSupreez wrote:Sony, yes. Nintendo, no. The N64 doesn't look as terrible as the PS1, escpecially when you have the expansion pak. Just look at Rayman 2 or Ocarina of Time, they don't look ugly at all. Simple, maybe, but not ugly like PS1.

I have no problem with old 3D graphics, mainly because I grew up on it. Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, and Majora's Mask all look great in my eyes. On the PS1, the intro sequence to FF8 still blows me away with how beautiful it is. Yeah that's an FMV sequence and not in-game graphics, but still.

Well, I need to rephrase my opinion a little bit.
Of course, business wise what Sega did makes no sense whatsoever. Especially considering the Genesis add-ons, but I wasn't talking about business.
I was trying to say that there are two ways to make a console, and to make games: You can please the crowd and make tons of cash, or you can put some more effort into refining your stuff. It's like The Fast And The Furious vs. Gone With The Wind or something.
And with that in mind, I think Sega kept the real gamers in mind and made beautiful, very playable games, while the rest of the market tried to get that 3D cash with technology that wasn't ready.
And I wasn't saying that PS1 and N64 didn't have great games with adequate graphics, it's just that when you compare, say, THPS on those consoles with the Dreamcast version… I mean you know what I'm talking about.

Well the original Fast and the Furious had similarities with the release of Gone with the Wind. For example, both were boycotted for violence. Granted the original Fast and the Furious is horrible slow and was much better when it was remade into The Chase.eskil wrote:The Fast And The Furious vs. Gone With The Wind

I probably didn't pick the best example.fastbilly1 wrote:Well the original Fast and the Furious had similarities with the release of Gone with the Wind. For example, both were boycotted for violence. Imagine comparing a very violent action film with loads of sex scenes to an elaborate, deep art film with a very intriguing plot, brilliantly written dialogue and believable performances by all actors.

I understand where you're coming from and to an extent I agree with you. I love my saturn but to be honest if I had no way to play JP games on it I wouldn't like it as much.eskil wrote:Well, I need to rephrase my opinion a little bit.

But I don't agree that 3D shouldn't have been done even the Saturn had great looking 3D games. I just wish they were less prelevent and more 2D games instead.

Re: Sega knew their stuff
it's just always been one of those games that didn't sit right with me. LttP is probably my favorite game of all time. But I OoT just... I can't seem to like it. Y'know all the stuff people usually say they DO like about OoT? I felt that way about Wind Waker. To me, Wind Waker was the perfect realization of a 2D Zelda in a 3D world. But it seems that I'm a minority in that way of thinking.s1mplehumar wrote:Your sir are on crack, and that's ok.noiseredux wrote:I've said it many times before, I'm not a fan.s1mplehumar wrote:How dare you blaspheme the greatness of OoT!
