I understand that logic. If you like pixelated mess the PS1 is the way to go. And yeah I know the n64 was foggy.

But Chrono Cross is the exception. It is always the exception.

Yeah, what an ugly mess.
I find the most annoying part about PS1 graphics is the warping, something that the Saturn lacks for the most part as a side effect of using quads instead of triangles.

Older. Not wiser.
Re: Sega knew their stuff
I figured posting the best example of the PS1's hardware potential to do 3D made sense. If that doesn't count for some reason, what about Tekken 3, Final Fantasy IX, Vagrant Story, the Gran Turismo games, Einhander, etc?

Another would be 3rd parties not wanting to develop for it. Sorry, couldn't resist, back to the topic at hand.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:something that the Saturn lacks for the most part as a side effect of using quads instead of triangles.

Re: Sega knew their stuff
there are a LOT of really great looking PS1 titles. Einhander is another good example, as bruno pointed out. But honestly -- Boring mentioned Zelda Ocarina, which is in my opinion by FAR the ugliest Zelda game ever. Ever. I'm including CDi games man. Ugly.

^seriously. Is this an argument that the N64 knew how to handle polygons?

So that picture was taken straight from a ps1? I have Crono Cross and I don't remember it ever looking that clear, still a good looking game mind you. But still shots always look better.brunoafh wrote:Yeah, what an ugly mess.pepharytheworm wrote:I understand that logic. If you like pixelated mess the PS1 is the way to go.
