That was fairly entertaining.Flake wrote: A lot of our more regional talk is actually covered in the IRC. Just the other day Niode educated us on how cool it is to be in the UK as long as you are not from Liverpool or Scotland.

I'm sure this has been suggested before, but I may as well throw it out there.
I think an MS-DOS gaming guide would be a great thing to feature. MS-DOS is a wonderful gaming platform. There's a lack of retro-PC gaming guides here in general. I'm fairly knowledgeable on the subject and would be glad to help out. I'm sure other members here are as well.

Yes, DOS could use a gaming guide here on Racketboy, along with a Hidden Gems article. DOS has so many great games that are freeware now that many could be enjoying if they only knew that they existed. I think DOS articles would fit in fine here, since this is supposed to be a retro gaming site, and DOS is pretty darn retro.brunoafh wrote:I'm sure this has been suggested before, but I may as well throw it out there.

And I'd like similar things for Apple II as well.

I'd like guides on the Commodore 64 and Amiga on top of these. I know Lord Santa's a big C64 aficionado. He's still amongst us, right?BoringSupreez wrote:Yes, DOS could use a gaming guide here on Racketboy, along with a Hidden Gems article. DOS, Dosbox, Dfend Reloaded, and their ilk, are all on the table for future articles. Along with other computer platforms: C64/C128, TI99, Amiga, OS/2, Speccy, Dragon, etc. There are more big changes in the pipe as far as content that I cannot speak about. But since I love old PC games, well Ill just let that slip.
If anyone would like to help on/write an article email racket and see what is currently being worked on. Some of these articles will require alot of help since the current writers do not have the expertise needed to do the article justice - ie Dragon 32/64.

List of Good (or at least worthwhile) games to play during parties...
Just list them by console and genre. The main reason why I suggest this is because...well, we get tired the same games every time, might as well play something retro just to mix things up.

Re: Official Racketboy Suggestion Forum Thread
I was thinking that maybe we can make a dedicated repair/troubleshooting thread.
sometimes when consoles arent working right and users here post threads on why it isnt working, the same problem gets reposted again!
something like this is what im thinking.....
what console do you have? [dreamcast] [Saturn][playstation] [playstation 2] You then click on it, and it jumps to the next screen
What is the problem? [disc doesnt spin] [no video] [no response from controller] and so on
this way there is less similar threads and it can get solutions quicker for the problems one is having.
You can put the most common answer to the problem, and if one is not satisfied they can then post a thread from there. Other threads can be linked there too under the most common response and solutions.
So that way if one reaches a dead end on the troubleshooting guide there are posts that are similar there to help people.
but I can only hope that having something like this isn't too boring!

Re: Official Racketboy Suggestion Forum Thread
I would like to suggest something. You know the forum section we have for game reviews? Well I was wondering, shouldn't we have some place for non-video game reviews? Like if somebody wanted to do a review for a book or a movie or something?
Either expanding the "Game Reviews" forum to include non-game reviews or just adding a new section specified "Non-Game Reviews" would work perfectly fine.
To be honest, I was hoping to try writing some amateur reviews very soon and was hoping to not have to limit myself to only video games. And going to any other website simply isn't an option for something like this.
