Oh that bit still happened. It was just a random cat that Kazuya found.
Madoka adopted it after the body switch incident.

Thanks for the advice on Eureka Seven guys. I found a cheaper version of it on Ebay for only $51 so I think I'm gonna be buying that one. I'm just gonna have to get over my slight fear of Ebay.
I just finished watching Princess Princess. It was quite good, but very short and I thought it had some missed potential with the relationship between Yujiro and Tohru.
And I also just finished Strawberry Panic. It was so amazing. I'm quite honestly thinking it's the best thing I've seen since Spice and Wolf, which would mean it's possibly my second favourite anime ever. I'll have to think it over more before I can be certain but yeah, it was that good.

Now that I'm done with exams, anime marathoning time. First on the list- finish Nadesico. Then it's the Utena movie, then I'm finishing Boogiepop Phantom, Kemonozume, and Ergo Proxy. May start either Z Gundam, Canaan, or Spice and Wolf after this if I have time.

A wide spectrum of stuff there, heh.AmishSamurai wrote:Now that I'm done with exams, anime marathoning time. First on the list- finish Nadesico. Boogiepop Phantom is one of the best anime thrillers I'd say, if you like weird stuff. I remember finding very low quality rips of it when I first watched it, and it was one of those cases where the shitty video quality made it even more awesome. haha
Speaking of Ergo Proxy, have you seen Texhnolyze? I still think it's one of the most messed up shows I've ever seen, and I really liked it but I can see how it's hit or miss for most people. The plot kind of reminded me of Gungrave a bit, except it was like 10x more gory and way weirder. Saw it several years ago and I've seen a ton of anime since then, but it still probably has the most fucked up ending I've ever seen.

Yeah, I have pretty broad tastes in anime, though I tend to ignore the generic moe crap. I have a special place in my heart for mindfucky shows like Lain, Evangelion, Utena, Kaiba, Higurashi, Big O, and so on.Xeogred wrote:A wide spectrum of stuff there, heh.AmishSamurai wrote:Now that I'm done with exams, anime marathoning time. Texhnolyze is on my list. Eventually.

Texhnolyze is definitely worth a watch. I think it's on par with Serial Experiments Lain for sure. Mushishi is also a great mind-fuck show, check that out for sure.

Has anyone else seen the live action version with Jackie Chan? Campyness at it's best. Worth it alone for the Street Fighter scene:CFFJR wrote:....I'll check out City Hunter....

Also, don't know if it's up your ally, but if you liked Strawberry Panic, and you haven't already, you could also check out Simoun and Maria-sama ga Miteru. Simoun was released about the same time as Strawberry Panic, but instead of a private school, has a War/Sci-fi setting. I never really got into it, but it actually received very good reviews. Maria-sama is also pretty popular (3 12-episode seasons, 1 OVA series). Similar setting to Strawberry Panic, but much heavier on the subtext. It's also a verrrrry relaxed show in terms of pace, but you can make your own judgments based on the first two episodes alone.
Love the Utena series. I just re-watched the series not to long ago. Even if the whole second season is essentially skippable plot wise, it's still so interesting that it can't be dismissed as mere "filler". You've reminded me that I need to re-watch the movie now tooAmishSamurai wrote:Now that I'm done with exams, anime marathoning time....Then it's the Utena movie....

I remember back in college my roommate rented City Hunter, and I wasn't really paying attention to it. Until that scene. Completely epic scene right there, and the best adaptation of Street Fighter outside the games.Michi wrote:Has anyone else seen the live action version with Jackie Chan? Campyness at it's best. Re: What Anime are you Currently Watching?/Anime Recommendations
Utena was interesting because of how it used limited budget and recycled footage. Clip shows and recap episodes, which normally one would skip, contained some of the biggest plot point and twists. In the Second Round/End of the World arc (the third season), every episode had the same footage with Touga calling forth the car, and every Akio Car sequence was the same. Eventually they start making fun of this in-universe. Every fight that season, save the final one, was almost exactly the same. Again, plot importance- everything was going exactly how Akio planned it, and the duels themselves no longer mattered. The fact that it deconstructed Magical Girl series in general made it more fun.Michi wrote:Love the Utena series. I just re-watched the series not to long ago. If you liked Utena, I'd suggest Princess Tutu and Puella Magi Madoka Magica.
