Not that I'm aware of, but Yahtzee wrote up an article suggesting this same thing awhile back.dsheinem wrote:That would actually make for a really interesting mechanic in an RPG system - the HP/MP/whatever stats fall the entire game, after every battle, etc. It could be a game where you start out at the end of a journey to slay some giant beast, and then have to grapple with some kind of life-draining poison/artifact/disease that requires medicine/tools of destruction/a doctor found only in your home country... So you start out super powerful fighting giant monsters and have to keep moving further away from its lair (fighting weaker and weaker enemies along the way) but still sustain enough energy to make it all the way home...
Has something similar been done?
What RPG are you playing right now?

I remember playing an rpg esque game where you were constantly losing health... I think it was called Baroque. Didn't play enough of it to see if it was similar to this or not thoughdsheinem wrote:That would actually make for a really interesting mechanic in an RPG system - the HP/MP/whatever stats fall the entire game, after every battle, etc. It could be a game where you start out at the end of a journey to slay some giant beast, and then have to grapple with some kind of life-draining poison/artifact/disease that requires medicine/tools of destruction/a doctor found only in your home country... Not too happy about the glitch in PS4 though ...where if you charactor lvl up pass 99 it glitches and starts to fall.

Baroque was the first Sting Ent. RPG. Before the Dept. Heaven series.dunpeal2064 wrote: I remember playing an rpg esque game where you were constantly losing health... I think it was called Baroque. Didn't play enough of it to see if it was similar to this or not though

Nope, same one. Didn't know it had a story behind it, I'm interested now. I never owned the game, but a friend had it for ps2 and it seemed interesting.
Did the Dept. Heaven games come out in the states?

Do you have a link? I've never seen anything by him except some of his ZP stuff.brunoafh wrote:Not that I'm aware of, but Yahtzee wrote up an article suggesting this same thing awhile back.dsheinem wrote:That would actually make for a really interesting mechanic in an RPG system - the HP/MP/whatever stats fall the entire game, after every battle, etc. It could be a game where you start out at the end of a journey to slay some giant beast, and then have to grapple with some kind of life-draining poison/artifact/disease that requires medicine/tools of destruction/a doctor found only in your home country... Re: What RPG are you playing right now?
I bought a Nook Color and put Cyanogenmod 7 on it so I decided to play an old school jRPG.
I am playing the first Dragon Warrior. This was the first console RPG I ever played. I got my first copy for free with a Nintendo Power subscriptions back in the day. It is simple but enjoyable. I might just play through all 4 of the NES Dragon Warrior games. I also tried a bit on the SNES remake of DW1 but I'll just stick to the original.

Got the sixth Crystal Star in Paper Mario Thousand Year Door (GC). Cortez was a pretty hard boss. Now onto a train mystery type thing for the next crystal star. 20 hours in
