What's the point of registering and then never posting?
Looking at the members page, there are quite a few people who joined, then never made a single post. Not even 1. It just makes me wonder, why bother? You don't need an account to lurk. I lurked for a year or two without bothering with an account.

I think some of them register just to PM people (probably BST stuff?).

I think Noise is right.
There was a guy who joined just so I could mod his Dreamcast, left positive feedback and hasn't logged back on since then.

PSone, Xbox, PS2, DC, SS Mod Service, PM for details

Probably this. A lot of interesting stuff comes in through BST, and I can see how it would entice a few lurkers to join just to get a good deal. It does feel awfully rude, but I can't say that I wouldn't do the same in their situation. However, I would at least post a few times to at least feign interest in the community.noiseredux wrote:I think some of them register just to PM people (probably BST stuff?).

I'll agree too. I've sold to 2 members that currently have 0 posts.

I've registered on forums, then left rather quickly because I felt the site wasn't for me. Or I kept an account idle for a while, rediscovered the site, and began posting regularly.

they are not retro gamers, yet. I was a looker for 4 months until i registered. Someome who loves gameboy had an account on destructoid. he said he was a writer for racketboy. he made himself an 8 bit avatar of himself with the original gameboy. i think he wears glasses

I made a deal with Chris Leach back when he had 0 posts, but he actually responded to something in my want thread. I did ask to look at his AtariAge credentials, though. I'm glad I did buy from him; I got a ton of rare guides from him, just in exchange for my copy of Lunar for SCD! Obviously, he has quite a few posts now, so he is known well-enough around here, but I just wanted to say the story. But, generally, I don't do transactions with users with under 30 posts, for security reasons.
