I hardly game anymore just like you, and I've started hoarding games I won't have a chance to play.
I really wish I had the drive to play them though.

Re: The Need to Collect
Recently, I have started to play my games a lot more and I'm loving the decision. Pick a game you have been wanting to start for a while and get into it. Borderlands did the trick for me.
Re: The Need to Collect
A break is sometimes the best thing. I remember just being frustrated with games. I wasn't really satisfied with my 360 purchase, and sold it on eBay when it worth a thousand of dollars in the Christmas season. With the money, I bought a nice guitar with the money. Usually I bounce between the two hobbies, as well as reading books, movies, and writing. If you still want to play games though, I do find card games Magic to give me a fix, as well as board games, like Catan, or Carcassonne to give me a fix, sometimes DND too.
My Console Collection: 3DS (JPNS), Dreamcast (US and JPNS), Genesis, N64 (US and JPNS), iPod Touch, NES, Xbox, Famicom, Colecovision, Super Famicom, Neo Geo AES, Sega Saturn, DS LL (JPNS), Neo Geo Pocket Color.

I go through this all the time. I usually find that taking a short break is the best solution. Try to avoid hitting sites like ebay, and when you feel the need to buy a game, look through your collection and pick up one you've never touched.
I most recently did this with the Policenauts translation. After not gaming for months, I finally had the old urge to actually sit down and immerse myself in the game.
