Still yearning for Dreamcast 2? You're retarded.

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

The N64 controller is bad? What is this nonsense? Nintendo have never made a poor controller. The N64 controller was fantastic. The Dreamcast controller was ok, but the agetec stick more than made up for this.

Lack of depth, longevity? Crazy talk? Shenmue 1 & 2, Grandia 2, Skies of Arcadia, Soul Calibur, Phantasy Star Online ver1 and ver2, Silver, Armada, Rayman 2, MDK2, Resident Evil: Code Veronica, Jet Set Radio, Marvel Vs Capcom 2, Street Fighter III: Third Strike. There's literally thousands of hours worth of gameplay there and that's just scratching the surface and that's not including PSO ver1&2, they were easily 300-400 hours each when the online was still functioning, they're still great single player action RPGs anyway.

Crazy Taxi is still enjoyable for me, however I have put hundreds of hours into that game, and know it inside out. I don't think twice about pulling off 40k+ scores on standard arcade mode. If you don't understand the game on a deeper level then that's not the game's fault. You just suck at it.

I agree with all of this, except that I never liked Crazy Taxi. I mean, Rayman 2 alone makes the system worth owning. And Sonic Adventure 2 has a buttload of hours of gameplay if you try and unlock Green Hill Zone. I've played the game for dozens of hours, and I'm still working on it. Definitely the longest Sonic game I know of. And then there's the THPS games, which also take quite a while to 100% with all the characters.

I can't stand the thumbstick. It's far too sensitive for it's own good and just feels flimsy as you play with it. And I hate how you hold the controller in the middle and to the right. Instead of on the right and left sides like a normal controller. It just feels awkward in my hands.

I had an N64 from day one so had nothing to compare it to (it was the first analogue self-centering thumbstick). It felt fine. I never thought it was too sensitive. When they get worn in and are old then they suck (thanks to the plastic wearing down). I also never had a problem holding it in the middle, why should that make any difference? I never even noticed the controller. IF you're going to lambast it for that, then you might as well say that the Playstation controller is bad because the thumbsticks are off to the side instead of under your thumb. Nintendo make the best controllers, always have done. The N64 and Gamecube controllers are two of the greatest controllers of all time. The only controllers I like more are the Saturn mk2 pad and the 360 pad and even then mostly for specific uses.

I just sound like some jaded Vietnam veteran here. You weren't there man, you don't know!

...and here's the insane part! This doesn't even include the epic JP stuffs. DC is just absolutely sick. So much goodness in so little time. Haters - get steppin'.

The N64 controller is one I don't really love going back to, but it's not that bad. Didn't care for the Gamecube controller though, hated that c-stick and the A/B buttons (but I can get over it and this is what I have most of those classic collections for, Sonic Mega Collection, Gems, Mega Man, etc). But hardly the best controllers in my book.

Nothing really wrong with the DC controller to me. I'd take it over the original hamburger Xbox controllers.

I pretty much agree with all of this. Not a fan of the N64 for GC controllers honestly, but the first Xbox controller is just a joke. DC controller is ok in my book, but I admit the design is a little awkward in general.

The DC controller has 3 main problems for me, I love the VMU, but these really stand out:

The D-Pad feels quite mushy

It's handles are too narrow and too short in length, which isn't good for my large hands. Unlike a lot of other small controllers though, I can't cradle it very well in my fingers.

It only has 4 face buttons, instead of 6.

The first and third aren't ideal but I could look past it if the controller was at all comfortable for me. It's just not though. The Saturn 3D pad on the other hand is great for me, with it's large buttons, fat handles, and excellent dpad.
Older. Not wiser.

Yeah, all of those are understandable gripes really. The dpad in particular grates me, since I'm a big fan of fighters. I guess I just grew to the controller's overall "feel", or something.

But I was there. I was there long before it. My first system was an Atari 2600 (my sister's) that we had as far back as I can remember, and the first we bought brand-new that I remember was our NES.

I just preferred the other controllers at the time. I felt PSX, Saturn, and Dreamcast controllers were all better feeling for me.
