Hey guys, thanks for your concern. Fast got it wrong, I'm actually in Chicago, as my youngest brother graduated from Navy boot camp on Friday in Great Lakes. I have some interesting stories to tell you all about the drive up, which I'll share as soon as I'm back home (I'm sitting in a public library in Lake Forest, Illinois, just north of Chicago).

As Fast said, we've heard from our friends, though several sustained injuries or lost everything. I finally found out today that the last couple I was worried about is ok, though they lost everything (that means at least four of my friends have nothing now, as I heard from another couple I was friends with on Friday that had also lost everything). My grandmother also lives in the area and had the storm cell move directly over her house, but other than a loss of power, she, her dogs, and her house are all ok.

For the record, when you hear about some of the destruction along 15th, my old apartment was only a couple of blocks away from where this thing touched down. I don't know if it's still standing.

I'll let you all know more when I get back home.

Not that I'm saying he was a Nazi... but his brother-in-laws were (not sure if they all were, or just some). I think one of his uncles was in the SS, and other relatives also. He's also done collaboration work with former Nazis, including founding the WWF (wildlife, not wrestling). Interesting stuff.

For discussion's sake, hitler really liked the British. They were his role model (a small country of a few million controlling 1/3rd of the world), and he believed that Germany needed to expand to the east, not the west. But thankfully they declared war on him when he invaded Poland

Yes, I think this is pretty common knowledge for anyone who's studied Hitler at all. He seemed actually sad to attack Britain, as they were his "brothers."

I sometimes wonder how much of that eugenicist mindset that the Nazis had carried over through the British Monarchy and parliament. If you google "top quotes by Prince Philip", most of the most popular ones are quite racist... but shockingly make total sense when considering Philip's history. Has it carried through his descendants?

Walking through it is like Katrina, just not as wet. My little brother is going back tonight/tomorrow to shoot for the Red Cross. The scariest thing is that even now, when you stand outside, it is quiet. There are no animals, no wind, nothing. Just nothing.

I did not take pictures, just forgot to. Was so wrapped up in what we were doing. We didnt even get out of Georgia.

I have a cousin I'm really close to who was visiting some of his friends in the area where all of this happened. Luckily for him he left to go back home to his family in the Florida panhandle the night before it happened (not sure if it was because of the weather predictions or just by chance). As of a day or two ago he still wasn't able to get in contact with the friends he was visiting and I believe it was where a lot of buildings were destroyed.

Man, I really hope you are ok, wrath.

I live just outside of Knoxville, TN and got some damage from the storms too. I believe a couple tornadoes narrowly missed the area where I live. The carpet in the basement had to be ripped up because of water damage and my car got some nice dents from the hail, not to mention a cracked taillight. Several of my friends had baseball-sized holes in their windshields from the hail.

I finally got power again. I have been without power since 27th. I just moved to Huntsville AL a little over a month ago. Still most of my county is out of power.
