Still yearning for Dreamcast 2? You're retarded.

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I play my Dreamcast almost entirely with the X-Arcade controller. Only use the original controller when the game was designed from the ground up to use it, like with Jet Grind Radio. Also, I'd say many of the arcade ports have held up well. Soul Calibur, Marvel vs Capcom 1 & 2, Capcom vs SNK 2, Street Fighter III: Double Impact and Third Strike, and many others get the 'dust off the old boy and play some games' treatment from me and many others.

Still, I much prefer the Sega Saturn. At least it had a controller that's d-pad didn't cause pain. The Dreamcast really should have just flat-out used the exact same controller that NiGHTS used on the Saturn.

For a 200-ish game library, no other US library is close as far as percentage that is worth owning. Run through the library and could probably take out 50-60 "just ok's" to "dud's". The rest is all worth owning. Even the so-so stuff that was released on N64 or PS1 as well, is just batter graphically and musically on DC (SF Rush, Ready 2 Rumble, Mrs. Pac Man, etc).

There were many racing and sports games that were excellent and hold up today. (Sega Rally, Tokyo Extreme Racer 2, Virtua Tennis, etc).

But that is just the filler if you will.

DC did very few RPG's, but what they did was excellent: Grandia II, D2, Shenmue II.

Again, we are not to the point why this system is epic. The shooters and fighters are as good as anything out before and out since. I could easily list 40 titles off the top of my head right here that are must-haves for any fan of those genres.

The Controller - yeah it wasn't amazing. But who uses that controller? There is a decent ascii handheld controller, but there is, to me anyways, the best arcade stick in the affordable range. The DC Agetec stick is my absolute fav stick - and can still be found in good shape for $50, well worth it and great for all the best games.

and Izzy, I wouldn't say that's why your retarded.

After using the non-European Atari 7800 controller for fifteen minutes, the Dreamcast controller seems fantastic.

Eh, I'm not a huge fan of the DC controller either though. I do however love the Dreamcast for it's game library. Sega took risks with different and unique games. As someone who really likes quirky games, it appeals to me more than a lot of other systems. I don't see that nearly as much with current games (although the digital Indie scene is helping).

As for the article....I can't believe the quotes I read in the article. They are essentially saying nostalgia commonly causes multiple forms of mental illness.

Yeah, the dreamcast is dead and the people who love it are dumb. After all, it's not like there are multiple independent publishers who continue to release games for the system long after its death or anything.

Seriously though, that was a terrible comedy article. I got halfway through it before I could even discern what kind of tone he was trying to strike.

Nowadays, there are far too many shitty American FPS games with DLC up the ass. Today's gaming industry can't hold a candle to the days of Sega, Nintendo and NEC.
I agree completely. I would assume most retro gamers would, though.

Really? Did you play Grandia 2, Frame Gride, Skies of Arcadia, Shenmue, Ikaruga, Phantasy Star Online, Resident Evil Code Veronica, Power Stone, or Soulcalibur?

...this is a tough thing to find out about yourself. I didn't have a clue. This must be what Peter Griffen felt like when he found out he was mentally disabled.

No, No, Gamecube version yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes.

When I said I tried to love it. I mean it. I amassed around 25-30 of the "best" games for the system, and there were only about 3 that ever held my attention. Jet Grind Radio, Crazy Taxi, and Sega Rally 2. Unless you include Propeller Arena and Half Life. I thoroughly enjoyed both of those, but, seeing as they weren't released, they really don't make an impact on my opinion. Not that they would anyway.

Like I said yesterday: There are currently more Dreamcasts online than PS3's.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
