the Q is expensive because it was import-only and limited.

FYI, I've bought 2 used PS2's, 3 used GameCubes, a used NDS and a used GBA at GameStop. Never had any problems with any of them. You have 30 days to return it if there's a problem anyway.

What are you talking about? Do you mean released in China only? Or do you mean manufactured in China? Because it's a Japan-only system as far as I know...

And I don't see what the big deal is about not trusting a used GameCube from GameStop. They are one of the most durable systems out there.

Well damn. I could've sworn they were a China exclusive, but nope, it's Japan exclusive.

Now why would I do that?

Yes, the silver one lacks the digital port for component video.

I have two NIB Gamecubes. A purple one that was made in Japan. And the Zelda Collector Edition that is made in China. which is the pride-and-joy of my collection. You can see the difference in quality with the two units side-by-side. Here are some of the differences that I noticed:

Chinese Gamecube:
Serial number sticker was perfectly centered
Pressing the drive door button caused it to open quickly and smoothly
The twist-tie on the bag to seal the gamecube was good quality plastic
It came with a piece of paper that shows it was inspected by "Chun Li"

Japanese Gamecube:
Serial number sticker was slightly crooked
Drive door opens slowly and then fast. Pretty annoying when you're waiting to swap out a game.
Twist-tie was put on bag loosely
There was no indication that it was inspected by anyone.

A lot of people don't know enough to distinguish the country of origin so you can get a good deal by picking up a Chinese gamecube for the price of a Japanese one.

that panasonic q thing is pretty interesting. Does it actually work with US games/setups or only JP ones?

@gtmtnbiker hmm interesting. Wonder which ones i just bought today. I always though China made stuff was cheap garbage. By the way not all silver ones lack the Digital out. Some have them it seems. Im curious about your zelda collectors edition gamecube.. i didn't even know they made such a think. I know of the Zelda collectors edition game, but didn't know there was a special system for it

lol that means nothing. How much physical punishment it can take does not equate to how the lens and internal workigns last through heavy use. Or how nasty and cruddy they can get. Really what im more concerned about is it being filthy or messed up. I dont think they even clean the damn things when they get them in. Ive bought used games before that when they open the cases up there are dead bugs and other junk in them, its nasty

i actually wound up winning an auction today
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... EBIDX%3AIT

26 bucks and 13 bucks shipping puts it at about what a gamestop one would cost. I figure this way i have 3 of them in case one or two dont work well =P id still really rather have a new one. What can i expect to pay for a new one? is 115 too high? I would have prefered to find a seller who was the original owner but like i said all the auctions like that seemed to be selling the system with a bunch of games which pushed the price up quite high. I guess these will do for now while i look for a new system or something along those lines

im looking at a gameboy player now and had a question.. when they are new do they come in a box or a blisterpack? i see this here in a blisterpack (i wont pay that price just using it as an example)
http://cgi.ebay.com/Game-Boy-Player-Nin ... 19c4b2bef2

and then i see another example here
http://cgi.ebay.com/NINTENDO-GAME-CUBE- ... 3a651254fe

thats in a cardboard box.. though that seems to be the JP version. I was just wondering what they came in in America. I know a lot of knock off stuff comes in cheap blister packs, so im wondering what to look for. Hell i'm also wondering if a JP one would work with an american GC? Im not even familiar with how GC's work for region locking.

A lot of work to play my stupid GBA games on a tv! Im wondering if the wii makes games look better than they do on the old GC's. Now i gotta try to track down a component cable. Im scared to look at the prices

The NA gameboy player did indeed come in a blister pack.

That's the exact packaging that came with mine, which I bought new off the shelf back when they came out.
