Tornado In Alabama
Just thought I'd make a quick post and let everyone know before I leave. Most of you guys don't really know me that well, but I figured I'd post anyway because..well some of you guys might be affected by this too, depending on who lives in the south. I'm actually in a motel right now. A tornado moved through my state and it hit my town directly and literally flattened everything. My town is completely demolished. My house is one of the only buildings even still standing. Most terrifying damn thing I've ever experienced. I thought almost for sure I was going to die. When we first walked out of the house, we heard people screaming help. And there were fatalities. I've got no idea if my grandmother is okay due to not being able to get through to her phone or anyone she knows. But yeah, just thought I'd let everyone know. I'm going to be gone for a while until I get a roof over my head again. If you want to look into it, it hit national news. We've got the National Guard here and everything. It happened in Pleasant Grove, Alabama specifically, but you'll probably find more info if you look for Birmingham, AL or Tuscaloosa, AL. As far as I know it was rated as an EF5 tornado. My dad took pictures too, so if anyone's interested at all I'll post them later when I can.
I'm going back to Missouri with my brother when he's able to leave. Both of our cars are kinda trapped in the driveway right now. Too many trees and powerlines and whatnot blocking us. Which is weird because literally everything at our house flew a block or two down the road other than our cars.
So in a nutshell, what made me ticked off yesterday? ..Well, yesterday. Only it made me piss myself (metaphorically) in fear rather than tick me off.

Re: Tornado In Alabama
That is insane!
I did hear about it actually very briefly so I don't know the details. I do not really know what else to say other than I am truly sorry to hear this. I do hope no was seriously injured or killed. Unbelievable.
Try to hang in there man. Good luck and keep us posted.
I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

That's pretty devastating, but glad to hear you're okay and hopefully things turn around for you. I live in KS myself so tornado's and the likes are always in the back of our minds during this season, especially lately with how random the weather has been shifting back and forth between cold and hot by the day...
Godspeed and keep us updated.

I'm glad to hear you're OK. I hope you're able to get in contact with your grandmother soon. I'll be praying for your family and friends.
I'm from Tuscaloosa myself, and all of my family still lives there. It took me about three hours of attempted calling last night to finally manage to get through to any of them. Fortunately, as of this morning I've been able to confirm they're all safe. My older sister's house is very close to where Tuscaloosa was hit the hardest, so I was pretty happy to hear it was still standing and they're all OK. Some friends of mine lost their house. They went to the hospital, but I heard they weren't seriously injured.

I just looked it up and that really is horrible. Unfortunately there are fatalities too. I am so sorry to hear this.

Glad you're safe. Praying that Grandma is safe and will remain in that state.
I'm also hoping Ack is safe and sound. Isn't he in Tuscaloosa?

Ack is in Nashville currently - he lives in Auburn now. He and I went through our list of friends in the devastated areas and found all of them were ok, but several were either hurt or lost everything. No one has power there though.
I still cant get intouch with some of my convention friends over there

Not anymore. I think he's in Auburn, now.s1mplehumar wrote: I'm also hoping Ack is safe and sound. Isn't he in Tuscaloosa?
Also, I can't say for sure, but I'm pretty sure that the Replay's on 15th street in Tuscaloosa was destroyed. I mention it since it sold retro video games.

I can't fathom starting over like that. It's comforting to hear none of your friends perished. Thanks for the update, billy.fastbilly1 wrote:Ack is in Nashville currently - he lives in Auburn now.
