Suggestions about GBA/GBC games on Android

Post by casterofdreams »

So I finally got a brand new phone. Its the Droid X from Verizon and I must say it is quite sexy mind you. Ive come across the Emulators on the marketplace for GBA and GBC and my question is are there any games for either the GBA or the GBC that would translate well on the touch screen phone?

Castlevania would require too much finesse and Mario and Sonic platformers would require timing only tactile buttons can give, not a touch screen.

Pokemon is a great choice because of the four way layout and requires no effort to play but that's all i can thing of.

No matter the game, touchscreen controls just don't cut it. I can't even enjoy a decent game of Sonic on my Aria.

That's because the Aria is just way too small for games. The Droid X has a huge screen, which makes it much easier to play games on. Of course, nothing beats physical controls, but at least you have more space. RPGs and other slow-paced games control fine in emulators.

True the Aria has a small screen, but the lack of tactile feedback makes playing almost a hit&miss. I managed to finish Castlevania Aria of Sorrow on my N96, though - thanks to an actual keypad.

Survival Kids for the GBC doesn't have much, if any combat. It's a fun little hidden gem that you should try out.

Old topic but I just wanted to say that Fire Emblem is perfectly suited for use with the free version of Gameboid. Since it pretty much saves itself after every move you make there is no need to use any save states if you need to stop the emulator for some reason.

Polarium
Pokémon series
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance

I hope that the Xperia Play lives up to its expectations in terms of emulators. However, reviews of the actual phone have been poor, so I hope Sony will make an Xperia Play 2 in about a year with some quality hardware. I can't wait for 2 GHz dual-core smartphones! :D The prospect of portable Gamecube emulation makes me giddy! *Jumps up and down, squealing*
