Brand new Dreamcasts - Any site still have them?

Post by Amplibax »

I remember pretty recently brand new Dreamcasts were popping up everywhere around the net for like $90-$100 on sites like Amazon and ThinkGeek and there were even a bunch on eBay, but they all appear to be gone at this point. I was wondering if anyone knows of any sites that still have any of them in stock. Both of my Dreamcasts are starting to die so I'd really like to get a brand new one before they completely disappear off the face of the earth.

I got one from Amazon about 6 months ago for $86 shipped.

Be careful and examine your machine when you get it - some people have received repackaged, refurbished machines that were passed off as 'new'.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I firmly believe there never were any new systems. I got duped into buying one and it was used. Just buy a used one and be done with it.

I heard some got used systems, but most people got brand new never used systems from Amazon. They were the ones that had the mixup.

As for ebay, you could get them all day new for about $86 a year ago.

Looks like they are all grossly overpriced now!

Dude in Mexico selling this for US $189.99! What the hell man? He has 5 of them!

I swear that every week when I go to the fleamarket, I find dreamcasts all over the place! Last week I got one for $5.00 with no cords!

Right now I am glad that they are plentiful, I've got three of them right now and sold some others to friends before. If one breaks just go buy another one. If you look around you can get one for cheap.

One day we'll run out, but when that happens.....who knows.

I'm honestly curious when and if we'll ever see some 3rd party consoles released for the 32bit generations and up eventually, like we see plenty of FC consoles and such for the Nintendo, SNES, Genesis, etc. I'm all about the authentic originals, but sometimes these things are kind of neat and so cheap it's interesting to check them out. Just makes me wonder if someday maybe we'll see some legit 3rd party systems that can do Sega CD, Saturn, and DC games in one or something like that. Maybe that's really far fetched though.

I wondered that too, but the complexities of the hardware are most likely what is keeping them from making them in China. Imagine a 2 in 1 Saturn/Dreamcast...

Where were these new DC's coming from? Were they laying forgotten in a warehouse somewhere?

Yeah, my guess is they bought them in bulk from Sega back in the day and they were just sitting for a few years until they put them up at various sites.

Ugh, I can't wait till the day happens. And the little expansion slot for the Saturn doubles as a Genesis...... So awesome.
