I would wager at least 20 mins. Wouldn't really be surprised if it took longer than thirty. Actually, I hope it's long because perhaps that will mean they pulled a mulligan on some of how their security system operates to prevent further issues.noiseredux wrote:at least 10 mins. How come nobody's mad at the person who made that debug cfw thing?
Not that you guys don't have the right to be ticked off. I guess it's because my PSN info doesn't have anything important on there, but as I read, everyone's mad at Sony, but not the guys who made the problem.

While I realize I've only been vocal about being angered at Sony, I should let it be known that I'm mad at both parties.Veno wrote:How come nobody's mad at the person who made that debug cfw thing?

Sega never stole my credit card number!
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Re: Anonymous strikes again
Why should we be mad at them? They were doing something for the community, IE the ability to use a retail PS3 as a dev kit to improve homebrew on the PS3. That is a very good thing. The problem was that this would allow you to connect to devPSN, Sony didn't secure it. Now who's fault is that? Sony should have secured it, full stop. I'm not condoning the hacker's actions (whomever that may be) but Sony really should have had some sort of security put into place for this event should it occur.Veno wrote:How come nobody's mad at the person who made that debug cfw thing?

I mean this is all hypothetical, it could have absolutely nothing to do with codename re:bug.

I am mad at anyone who feels that THEIR rights and issues are more important than anyone else's. The smoker who concerned only with THEIR right to smoke. The mothers who are concerned only with THEIR right to breast feed in public. The Jehova's Witnesses who are concerned only with THEIR right to indoctrinate door to door. The "anonymous" hackers concerned only with THEIR right to do whatever they want with their PS3.Veno wrote:How come nobody's mad at the person who made that debug cfw thing?
All of these things are fine until they begin to affect other people who didn't ask for it. That's when I get mad, whether I'm directly affected or not.
If these malcontent miscreants want to wage war against Sony for something, that's fine -- but leave me and all the other users who don't care about their war alone. Not only can I not play online (or purchase something I really wanted for my PSP from the store), now I have to live with the fact that my personal information was stolen too. This sure as shit isn't solving any problems, or making me any more interested in hearing about why they're doing what they're doing.
EDIT: You know what else makes me mad? When they make THEIR rights about OUR rights. You don't speak for me! All I wanted to do on my PS3 was play games. Don't somehow pretend that YOUR rights are OUR rights. Bleh.

Be angry at Sony's lack of adequate security. Not the hackers.irixith wrote:I am mad at anyone who feels that THEIR rights and issues are more important than anyone else's. Sure, Sony's security may be in question.Niode wrote:Be angry at Sony's lack of adequate security. Not the hackers.
Maybe it isn't.
Who knows how the hackers got in. I'm mad at them, because what purpose does it serve to steal the users personal information? It's well beyond the scope of this whole homebrew (piracy) business going on. You've got some people out there dead set on proving some point, no matter who gets in the way, and I can't get behind that. They are acting as if THEIR issues are more important than everyone else's. No thanks.
