Post by Dr. Jamal »

I was just wondering bc I just got the first one the other day and played through it and it was awesome.

Now I'm debating on bidding on Actraiser 2. has anyone played it? Do you think that it is better than the first one?? does it play the same or is there several new features??

2 doesn't even compare to 1. It is way to hard to be any fun.

If you really want to be certain, then why not try it on emulation first before bidding.

Actraiser 2 is action only. There are no map screens where you build followers. You have more tricks you can do for platforming action, but the controls can be a little awkward for flying/gliding at times and the stages and enemies are much harder.

Also, the music is a little busier, but not actually better. Whereas the music in the first was very moody and deliberate, the music in the second is a little more generic sounding.

Yeah, Actraiser 1 is a far better game. If you like it you should try Soulblazer, it's another early ENIX SNES game with a similar theme. Instead of a platformer it's more of an overhead Zelda-esque game, and it still has a town building aspect as well.
