Well geez I'd certainly hope so.BoringSupreez wrote:I'll concede the comic stories though.
Batman is a comic book character, first and foremost.

Jack Nicholson, Michael Keaton, and Tim Burton awful? But you like the 60s show?BoringSupreez wrote:And the '89 movie was awful.

Damn straight. I'd venture that the two Burton films are better than Batman Begins...Ack wrote:BoringSupreez wrote:And the '89 movie was awful.

The 60's stuff had a certain charm to it that the '89 movie failed to equal.BurningDoom wrote:Jack Nicholson, Michael Keaton, and Tim Burton awful? But you like the 60s show?BoringSupreez wrote:And the '89 movie was awful.

Quoted for truthiness. I love Batman '89. It's my favorite Batman. The Dark Knight wishes it was as good as Batman '89.dsheinem wrote:Damn straight. I'd venture that the two Burton films are better than Batman Begins...Ack wrote:BoringSupreez wrote:And the '89 movie was awful.

Re: Happy Birthday Batman!
I thought the Burton Batman films were mediocre at the time and in retrospect, I like them even less. Burton doesn't care a lot about plot, so it's all about style and 20 years later, the films don't even look that good anymore. He did put his distinctive personal style on two blockbuster films based on a well-known 50 year old series though, and that in itself is impressive.
Imo, Batman Begins was as good as a Batman movie can get and probably as good as any comic book movie can get. It took Batman seriously, but there was still a sense of wonder and fun there.
The Dark Knight was a good movie, but it was a pretty joyless affair. Nolan wanted to make a serious and relevant film, but I think he was coming up against the limitations of the genre there.
I can't see any value in the 60's TV series and movie.
