Yes. I bought a 3DS solely in anticipation of Mega Man Legends 3. If / When it comes out I will call in sick to work, tell my family I have to work all day, unplug my phone, and basically turn the outside world off to enjoy it without distraction.

As it stands today, most games for the HD consoles don't make a dime for the developer until they've sold a million copies - and Capcom has been burnt REALLY often playing that game (i.e. Bionic Commando).

Legends 3 on the 3DS is the best chance for the series to make a comeback.

If I had the choice to rent a really cheap place with little to no potential customers, or a much more expensive place with a much higher amount of potential customers... it's probably better to go for the one with a higher yield.

With Capcom's mentality, they're simply setting it up for failure and trying to make it a failure that won't hurt them so bad. "Oh well, we only lost every dime we invested - but at least we didn't invest a lot!"

How is it that the 3DS is the worst place for Mega Man Legends 3? Simple. How many MML fans have bought a 3DS just for MML3? (I think you just did.) How many MML fans have said they won't buy a 3DS until it comes out? (I know I'm on that boat.)

I'm sorry, I love Mega Man, but I have no intentions of downloading this demo. If Sony were doing what Capcom is doing they would be getting slammed, and rightfully so. I can't believe a gaming company is not only charging for the demo and then saying that if not enough people buy said demo then the game isn't going to be made, but that it has the support I've been seeing from the consumer base. It would be different if Capcom were willing to give a refund or some kind of credit if the game doesn't get made.

I know it's only $2, but if this succeeds, what's to stop this becoming more common? I wouldn't put it past game companies to start making demos for games they have no business finishing. As a way to recoup some cash from a project gone wrong or something they release it has a pay to play demo saying if it sells well they'll finish the game, even though they have no intentions of doing so.

People pay way more money for horse armor type DLC - and here they are complaining about supporting a game that has had no chance of being made until now?

Where gamers choose to take their stands is such an arbitrary thing.

The fact that they charge for the demo is strike one, and claiming that sales of the demo determine whether the game gets made or not is strike two. They're basically saying "we don't think anyone wants this game", which doesn't bode well for it being done properly or even getting done at all.

they charge for content that should have been in the game in the FIRST place. now they are charging for a demo that may or may not be made into a full retail game.

what's next? charging you every time you turn you system on?

i'm glad wombatula isn't downloading it. stick that shit to the man.

Say what you will but giving companies a chance to recoup development costs on risky titles while still in development is only a GOOD thing in my eyes. By mitigating risk it encourages companies to put some resources into interesting projects or revivals.

You want to complain about the state of video games? You've got what you asked for: An industry where every single game has to be a slam dunk, homerun, 2 million seller just to break even. That environment is where the creativity, the risk, and the ingenuity has been locked away.

Why do you think companies have to have so much DLC ready to go for games AT launch? It's because they NEED that extra bump to mitigate the risk. Developers sink millions of dollars into these projects, often times for 2 or 3 years in advance of the games release.

And if ANYTHING goes wrong, there is no going back. A bad review or a crappy release window and all that money is gone - and with it any interest in taking whatever chances or risks may have seemed like a good idea before hand.

This method that Capcom is suggesting is brilliant to me - the fans get a sneak peak at a game they've been waiting for a decade to see, Capcom can gauge interest off the bat to see if the game is even worth making, and the developers get a quick revenue flow to speed things along and make the parent company happy.
