What Thief games should I play?

I have never played any Thief games but back when the third game was released I tried a demo of it and tought it was really cool. Are they good? Is it hard to run them?

I think you can buy thief 1 on steam for 10 bucks. I remember playing the orignal one and really liking it, but that was a while ago.

Yes, they are extremely hard to run on newer systems. Good luck on that.

From what I hear, most fans of the first two highly revere them, but not the third game. I managed to play a good bit of the first one until it kept crashing on me. 2 I think I've gotten working perfectly, but I don't know if I'd want to jump into that one without having finished the first...

2000's were the best era for FPS's and I think these are among the best, just wish I could play them in full myself. Someday perhaps.

Heard VERY good things about one and two. While the original copies will be hard to run, they're now up DRM free (and easy to run and install) on GoG, so I'd recommend you pick them up there if you want to play them.

My PC is pretty high end, and I haven't experienced any problems with running Thief Gold. For Thief 2 there's some patch that just recently came out that supposedly fixes issues the game has running on newer machines as well.

There doesn't seem to be any reason not to start from the beginning though, there are only three games after all. I guess the third one is very different from the first two and developed by a different studio.

I highly recommend playing "the dark mod" it's like thief, only done in the doom3 engine.
