Tapwave Zodiac - its the palm gameboy. The community even got it to run PSX games at the end of its life time. Mostly known for emulation and for being a good palm pilot, but it had a solid set of titles for it, including a Duke Nukem and Spy Hunter
GP32 - I bought it for NES and SNES emulation, snes emulation was terrible. But it was a solid device on its own. A small library with a couple good games and some bad trash. I just loved the feel of the device. I kept it in my car for two or three years for random playing sessions.
Wonderswan - Judgement Silversword, Crazy Climber, and FF1! What more could I want in a handheld? Oh yeah, maybe an English version...
I always wanted a Turbo Express or a Rzone, but never did buy either.

Great games on the platform, but not great if you are just playing around at the airport or coffee shop. Password saves if there are saves at all.
I agree, there is a library, just not a mobile library. What i do not is take pictures of passwords on my phone. and that helps a little. Most Game Gear and NGPC games have level saves or continue points.
Yeah, for me the huge huge problem w/ the Express is one they really should have addressed out of the gate: adding a "booster plus" feature so you can save games directly to memory. It boggles the mind that they didn't do this.
Anyway, I really like the WonderSwan the most of of all the "other" handhelds. Never got into the LCD type stuff, NGPC doesn't have too many games I care about (I'm more of an RPG/horror gamer), Lynx has even less. The Nomad eats batteries and if I want to play Genesis games I'd just emulate them on the PSP.
I know OP said no Game Gear, but one thing I liked to do was use the Master Converter on the Game Gear and play Master System games on the go (mostly just for the novelty of it). It gets awkward to have that AND a battery pack hooked up tho.
I have a ton of games listed at my store's site: Super Smash Video Games

What about the R-Zone?!!?!?!?!
...I kid, of course. It's probably also for the best that nobody has mentioned the Game.com either.

SwanCrystal (WonderSwan) is my other favorite. I can understand some of the games but lately I have been staring at my SwanCrystal imagining myself playing Dicing Knight.

Great handheld, I always wanted one of those versions. I used to have a color version.

Sure, the Turbo Express might not be mobile friendly in terms of save/password games, but the media is definitely more mobile friendly than chunky cartridges. Also, the Express has the best stock screen hands down. Even with a fronlight mod, the NGPC is still not nearly as bright or crisp. The Nomad and Game Gear have decently bright screens, but it's blur mania. The Express screen isn't perfect and small text can be tough to read, but it's clear and bright.

The Atari Lynx is easily my favourite handheld at the moment, tho he has recently got strong competition from my first ever NGPC.
The Lynx is big but a great handheld, far ahead its time, with a truely fun games library and only few few duds. Most agmes rock and some familiar arcade games have the best conversion on the Lynx IMO (Paperboy, Joust, Ms. Pac-Man). There is still a strong homebrew scene and they regularly issue new or "rediscovered" games. It has become a very fine hobby and I´m glad I have a Lynx among all the many Nintendo giants and the comparatively famous Game Gear
