if you can appreciate sealed snes games...

Post by molotovwars »

I didn't know what to name this topic, but I wanted to share these pictures from a sale I just finished up:

Its amazing the things that are forgotten by time or are just left unappreciated it. Glad I could help find these a new home.

That's... an odd find. Pretty cool though.

If those were copies of Lufia 2 or something, it would be much more of an eye opener though.

That's pretty sweet. How'd you happen to come across something like that?

I love seeing boxed SNES game or cartridge games in general simply because most collections are cartridge only so it's like spotting a rare animal in the wild or something

I have a CIB SNES collection of moderate size that I would like make larger when I get some extra cash and spare time

Too true, would've been awesome if the old Nintendo systems had hard cases like the Genesis or something.

That's not the point, and I think everyone knows this already.

Well, I've found all of these in South Korea. I've made guesses for how so many sealed games have ended up here, but I've only come up with my own theories and idea. I know official support for Nintendo systems in Korea was very poor and I'm sure that any releases they did get came much later than in other regions. Despite a ban on Japanese cultural imports (which prevented Nintendo, a Japanese company, from simply importing its games from other regions), there are tons and tons of Super Famicom games here. Many of them are boxed and for the most part they is sold for around market prices.

However, US version games have little worth here in South Korea. And whether it is sealed or open makes little difference.

My guess is that these games (along with others I have bought in smaller quantities) were sold from another warehouse in another country, probably Mexico. Almost every sealed game I have found in any quantity greater than one, has been made in Mexico. That said I still find sealed stuff for next to nothing that was made in Japan, but those are usually just a one shot kind of thing and not in quantities of more than fifty.
