I've heard that the demo is only going to cost $2 USD so at least it's not a huge barrier to entry. I plan on making everyone I personally know with a 3DS download it.
And to be honest, I like that Capcom is taking this approach. They get to assess the viability of the property while mitigating any potential financial loss should they release the full game and it not sell like gangbusters right out of the gate. This mentality is why Megaman 10 was even made; Megaman 9 sold well enough to signal to Capcom that it was a smart move.
