When PS4 comes out its going to be hard security, by then I will have a good job. I hope they lower the cost of games. I hope nintendo cafe project doesn't turn out like 3DO, virtual boy, and Jaguar.

Really? Please cite a reference. It's news to me.
I'm not going to just dump a bunch of Google links like a douche, but here's one.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010 ... 999045.htm

There's also this site that documents all lawsuits filed against Sony over the issue so far. Some are still underway, but the court has sided with Sony on every one that has been decided.
It was dismissed. There was no ruling. I can't see any link that says that it was legal for Sony to do that. A court case being dismissed does not mean it was legal for Sony to do.

...doesn't that also mean it wasn't illegal, either? :p

Exactly my point. We're STILL at square one as to whether Sony can or can't legally do it. That's what's so fucking annoying. If the courts rule it is legal for Sony to do I will despair and never buy Sony products again. If they rule it's illegal for Sony to do I will be happy knowing I was right all along and STILL never buy Sony products again.

I actually admire this sort of anarchy. Just sayin...

Mess with the hackers. The hackers will mess with you.

Well, looks like the CCB in Finland agrees with me.

For anyone that still cares/doesn't know, apparently Sony has made a statement that the issues are indeed stemming from an "external intrusion".
http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/04/ ... -services/

Anonymous claims they had nothing to do with it though. They put out an official statement on their site:
Sony's Playstation Network, its online service for Playstation 3 and its Playstation Portable consoles, suffered from a major outage today; which is on going as of this writting. According to Son'ys blog, the interruption in service may last into the long weekend - for at least another "full day or two". Sony released a statement through its EU blog, saying that the network outage may be a result of "targeted behaviour by an outside party", brining in the possibility of cyberattacks. Adding to the confusion is the fact that the message has since been removed.

While it could be the case that other Anons have acted by themselves AnonOps wa not related to this incident and takes no responsiblity for it. A more likely explination is that Sony is taking advantage of Anonymous' previous ill-will towards the company to distract users from the fact the outage is accutally an internal problem with the companies servers.

TL:DR

Sony is incompetent.

By the very nature of the group, it's difficult to take a blanket denial of responsibility from Anonymous seriously.

The thing that sucks is that Sony is probably going to move towards taking the Playstation Network closer to the Microsoft model where you have to tie yourself down with contracts to get your games online. If they have to revamp the entire PSN in order to make the network more stable and secure, they'll probably look at making their PSN plus model mandatory in order to recoup losses.

Microsoft offers a really robust online gaming experience but for someone like me who just wants to spar with friends from time to time, paying a hefty annual fee is a real turn off. Hence the attractive nature of Nintendo and Sony's limited-but-free online experience.

Pretty much no matter what happens from here on out, it's the gamers that are going to lose.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I have a tendency to agree with Anon, I don't condone what they did before, that was stupid. However they've given Sony a convenient scapegoat. Sony are habitual liars so we will never ever find out what exactly caused it so they'll just blame it on anon and let the Sony fanboy retards run with it.

For a bunch of hardcore 'hackers' and 'computer geniuses', you'd think they would know what 'Spell Check' is..
