Re: Cassettes coming back?
I'd love tapes if the sound quality wasn't so bad. I love the size, the cases, the durability, but, none of that means anything if I don't enjoy listening to the music on them. I have about 20 tapes and none of them sound quite right.

Most hilarious thing is showing an 8-year old a Walkman and seeing them try to figure it out. I haven't touched one in ages, but it's been ingrained in me enough I can probably remember given time.

The sound quality varies greatly based on type of tape and your player. Type 2 tapes are awesome for recording and a high quality player is a must. Nakamichi is the best for VCRs and Cassette players. I have a Teac that sounds really nice.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:I'd love tapes if the sound quality wasn't so bad. Plus worn tapes or dirty heads can really make things sound like crap.elabit wrote:The sound quality varies greatly based on type of tape and your player. I haven't used cassettes in years, but I can remember getting my first tape recorder when I was 6 or so, and having a ton of fun making the absolute dumbest recordings (you know, half an episode of Scooby Doo, farting noises, random screaming, etc.) and playing them. It was all fun and games until the player started eating tapes, and had to go in the trash.

I'm a hipster and I use an Edison Cylinder Phonograph. It's ability to only play a few times before the recording is ruined makes me appreciate the experience all the more as opposed to your fangled digital music that you can obtain and use easily and frequently.
PS, I'm better than you.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

Anybody remenber D-VHS? You know, that HD format that was supposed to be in line to replace DVD, except for the fact that it was VHS and still required rewinding and all that other bullshit?
