Can't wait to get a copy of this for After Years. Makes me happy as hell that I didn't buy the individual After Years episodes on my Wii.

I saw that somebody posted on GameFaqs that it costs around $37 for The After Years if you download everything. If that's correct then there isn't a reason to bother with WiiWare.Betamax001 wrote:Seems cheaper and easier than getting all the After Years episodes on WiiWare.

So I've been digging into it. It's the FFIV I know and love alright. I started from the beginning of FFIV, it feels wrong to just start with the Interlude/After Years.
The load times are great, more or less non-existent. Loving that.
The only things I'm disliking so far: It's REALLY easy. Like, piss easy. Enemies barely attack at all and have been doing 1 damage. Also, I don't really like how they made Cecil and Kain's faces visible in their battle sprites. I much prefer their classic ones. I don't remember if this change was present in the GBA port, but the watered down difficulty was.
Still, I'm having a good time with it.

Ah, they're different alright.
Original

PSP

See what I mean though? It looks weird. They have weird masks on or something in the PSP one, maybe they're based off The After Years sprites. They looked better before, or maybe I'm just too used to them.

Yeah they definitely don't look nearly as cool, not bad though.
I remember always wishing you could play through the whole game as Dark Knight Cecil. Looks way cooler than his White Knight form or whatever.

I jumped right into After Years, as I've wanted to play it since it was first announced for Wiiware. Strangely once I got a Wii, I wasn't as excited. DLC is just not the same as picking up a nice package like this. I was excited to find little collector cards and Disidia add-on DLC (anybody want it?) as bonuses in the UMD case.brunoafh wrote: it feels wrong to just start with the Interlude/After Years.
ANYWAY, I am loving After Years so far. Just over an hour in, so it's early. But really really fun. I think I had forgotten how exciting the ATB system can be.
Re: FFIV: Complete Collection coming to PSP in April!
I just started The After Years too. I did end up buzzing through the main story and the Interlude though.
It is pretty awesome, I agree. I like the episodic lay out too, can't wait to play Golbez and Edge's chapters. I love the ATB system, and luckily, TAY is pretty challenging so far. The watering down of the difficulty really hurt the post-WSC releases of FFIV in my opinion, but TAY has a good balance going on. Hopefully the difficulty is like this throughout.

have you made it to the fight on top of the castle yet? When you have to do like 3 boss battles in a row? That part was pretty F'ing hard because of that boss that kept casting Doom. Took me like five tries to get through that whole scene. Haha.brunoafh wrote:I just started The After Years too. I did end up buzzing through the main story and the Interlude though.
