I'm under the impression that Swap Magic can also force PAL into NTSC mode. But in some cases you'll have to patch, which isn't as hard as it sounds (at least from my PS1 experience).
From what I've found Shinobido doesn't have that option. Hopefully Swap Magic handles it. I'm not particularly afraid of the patching process, but I'm not into playing burned games if I don't have to. Especially in the event of Shinobido being as awesome as I think it will be because I'll be logging in many-a hours.
PAL Conversion
Hopefully Swap Magic will give you satsfactory results. I have PAL Buzz Millionaire and PAL Alien Hominid, the games did work with Swap Magic, but the screen was not centered. The bottom part of the game was cutoff off, shifted below the TV screen. Going the conversion route fixed the cutoff on Millionaire with an offset of Y Position 56 and is very simple to do.

PS2 games one step process are easier to convert compared to the three step process of converting PS1 games. I am optimistic that Alien Hominid will also Y-Fix at the 56 setting, not the 48 listed in that Forum Link.

I'll post back in the Playstation PAL NTSC Conversion Guide once I get Alien Hominid completed.

Another HDAdvance/HDLoader Plug
Keep in mind a DVDR does make the Laser work a little harder over a pressed disc. For long term many years use, best to get the PS2 Fat which is inexpensive and install the DVDRs to the internal HDAdvance/HDLoader driven Hard Drive. Plus an advantage of not dealing with swapping discs every time you have gaming a session. After I installed the converted Millionaire to the hard drive, both original disc and DVDR are safely stored away, to keep in pristine condition.

As a British gamer who exclusively plays NTSC titles (until recently, PS3 titles run @ 720p/1080p which is universal anyway) I have to say avoid PAL games like the black death.

We get horrible conversions which are typically 17.5% slower due to being 50hz instead of 60hz.

Swap Magic won't fix the Y and X axis of the image, and a 50hz title forced to run at 60hz may even play too fast - if it's already been speed fixed.

Best to go Jap IMO!

From the technical specs for my tv... (same model number)

* Power Specifications:
* 90-240V @ 50/60 Hz
* 180W average power consumption
...

Does this mean my TV will display a 50hz PAL signal? :?
::fingers crossed!::

Well, I just got Shinobido in the mail today. Suppose I'll be ordering the Swap Magic kit this Friday when I get paid...

May not give satisfactory results. A cutoff bottom screen:

Yeah, you should have just got the Japanese version to avoid TV screen issues. The Japan-only PS2 game library is incredible too.

The Shinobido message board over at Gamefaqs has a handful of people saying that it works fine, the HUD is all at the top of the screen and the character is centered (vertically) on the screen so there's room below him to allow the cutoff. And I've seen that guide of yours, I think I mentioned it in my first post, you seem to know your stuff :) perhaps you know the answer to this:

...is it just me, or does the "confused" face look bitterly disappointed?
