After experimenting with this kind of reviews, between 500 and 600 words long, I think I'm going back to longuer reviews like my OutRun and Xcom reviews, that were 800-900 words long. This is probably my last "short" one.
The reason is that it's easier to fall into generic writting, pointing only things that everyone can see and wasting too much time on fluff and decorative writting. I feel like I'm churning out reviews and that is never good, they are solid but not good.
It's kind of a trap it's easy to fall into as some things are very hard to review. Some games are somewhat simple and it's hard to fill more than two paragraphs to talk about them. For example, I think I can be more informative with Doom but it's a different frame of mind and a different kind of writting.
It seems that the key is striking a balance between explaining how a game works and not stating the obvious. With movies and books it's harder as the balance is explaining why the film is good without spoiling.
On a happier note, I got my first non-spam comment! Yay! And while the Spanish version of my blog is barely read outside of people looking for OutRun stuff the English version already has an steady low of 5 people per day with peaks of twenty. It may not seem much, but I'm proud that my writting is being read.
I still need to work on the design, tough
Enough talking, here's the review:
