Cassettes coming back?

I have decided sometimes to not buy records of some indie bands around here because I'd have to carry them around all night. Cassettes would be much better, just throw in the pocket and we're good to go.

I never listen to music off CDs anyway. I buy just to support the bands and have cool artwork.

When are CDs due for a comeback?

Some indie fans using cassettes is hardly what I'd call a comeback. This sounds like some hipster fad that will fade soon enough. Anyone with an ounce of hearing can tell that both records before it and CDs after it sound better.

Personally, I still have and listen to many cassette albums I own, I don't hate them. But they're all stuff I already owned from back in the day or I bought at the flea market for a quarter. I would never pay $5 or more for a cassette when I could get a CD for the same price or go to a download site and pay less.

That was until it got sat on by a school bus. :(

Shame, it was still a pretty good vehicle. Now I drive a Saturn!
 Wow! That is the opposite of me. I drove a 96 Saturn with a cassette deck and used the coverter thing for my discman. Now I drive a 2010 Corola S that has the CD player deck and Aux hook up for Mp3 players! I hated my Saturn, nothing but electrical problems! :x Hopefully you're not having any issues with yours.

I don't miss cassettes honestly. They would eventually get eaten by a deck somewhere down the road and the quality fades after a while. I still have some left actually and I was hoping that they will make some kind of converter to transfer your cassettes to your hard drive like I've seen w/ record players recently.
I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

From TFA:
"It's a really nice thing to wake up to in the morning," she said. "If you only have 30 minutes to get out of the house, it's not really that convenient to put a record on
That's pretty ridiculous. Everyone figured out that cassettes were more convenient than records 30 years ago. Wait until she finds out about CDs! How hipster do you have to be to grab for an LP first thing in the morning?

I still have a cassette player in my car. I hook it up to my Mp3 player with a tape adaptor. That is as close to tapes as I will get, and I have a basement full of obsolete technology. I literally have half a dozen computers that can store data on tapes, I've never tried it.

VHS, I can see the appeal of. It's easily recordable. Records have a place, you can't scratch a CD. LaserDisc is still worthwhile for a few titles that haven't made it to DVD intact. Cassettes have literally nothing to recommend them.

When are hipsters going to discover 8-tracks?

I will never, ever get rid of my Beastie Boys cassettes.

But other than that and the nostalgia factor, tapes stink.

8-tracks are so 2008. I drive around with my Gen 1 sega genesis hooked up to my aux port and the sound test to sonic 2 playing.

You have to flip a tape, too.

I bought a Hulk Hogan cassette tape for $1 at a gas station not too long ago. My friends car had a tape deck and I was sick of his crappy music. It wasn't any better but at least it annoyed him instead of me.
