It would also be in your favor to get a retroport adapter to let you use SNES controllers on your 'cube. It makes GBA and GB games feel that much more authentic. There ARE more official ways to get the same thing but they are costly avenues to choose.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

that is bizare.. the EARLY models are the ones that had the digital out? I cant believe thats something they actually REMOVED.. yeesh. How can i make sure they bring me out the early model? I probalby wont be able to just go back and browse, so What color console should i ask them to bring out then? Im not sure where they removed it, i checked the wiki but its not much help. Color i guess is the best way to have them bring out the best one. Anyone know what colors the Digital out port was on? Also still wondering if the made in Japan VS made in China thing matters.. although its sounding like maybe the later made in China ones may not have the digital out port. I would prefer a black or silver one but i dont know if those would work

I most definitely am getting the game boy player. Thats one of the main reasons i was considering this honestly. I'll check gamestop but if they dont have it i guess i'll look online. So you guys are saying i need the hardware for it AND a boot disk, right? I guess it wont work without the boot disk. Anything else i should know about the GBA player when shopping for one?

So what ive gathered so far is i need something with a Digital out port, and when looking for a GBA player make sure i get the boot disk. Im still curious on the made in Japan VS China thing and any other differences. Its starting to sound like the earlier models are actually the better ones from what you guys are saying

oh @ Flake, whats the retroport adaptor? Ive never heard of that. It would probaly be kinda cool to use my SNES controllers with GBA games. i did a google and came up with some usb adaptor for the wii

I'm not sure about colors specific to the digital out. I've own black and blue ones with digital out. But just say "I want one with the DIGITAL OUT PORT on the back of it." It's easy enough for them to open the box and look.

Once I go back home my GameCube will be in my bedroom and my Wii will be downstairs in the living room so I can just pack up my game and move upstairs. And it will be kickass.

Now I just need a component cable for my Wii. The A/V Cables just look nasty on my HDTV.

I have a black GC I got on launch day that has the digital out port; the GC launched purple and black so there should be a decent amount of either color with the port on them.

hmm those retro controllers look cool, thanks for the article link. But i thought there was an actual adaptor to let you plug your SNES controller straight into the system. Those wii controller adaptors linked are what i was thinking about (and what i mentioned i found with google) but they are just for the wii.. is there anything like that for the gamecube?

and as far as the digital out port, sounds like a black or purple one would probably be my best bet? Are there any other diffrences? No one ever chimed in on the made in Japan ones VS the made in China. I guess that doesn't really matter as long as it has the port? I still find it weird that they removed that on the NEWER ones. I actually figured id get a newer one since it probably has less wear on it, but i guess not

As far as the game boy advanced adaptor goes.. isn't it suposed to be a little tray or something that sits on the bottom of the system and comes with a boot disk? I checked gamestop and they dont have any. I looked on ebay and the stuff i found wasn't what i thought it was

i dont know what that is.. dont think its what i was looking for

btw whats the port look like? I did a google search and actually saw some pics of a silver gamecube with 2 ports. one said analog out one said digital out.. im guessing thats what i want right?

the Wii ones ARE the GameCube ones. They only work as GameCube controllers on the Wii.
