World Map According to Americans

Post by 8bit »

I found this map through digg showing how Americans see the world.

Most of it is so true.

I hope there are no over patriotic Americans on this forum. If there is...

It is funny though.

Lol, there is definitely some truth to this. I'm finishing up my degree in International Studies and you'd be amazed how many people in my degree program (international studies, I say) cannot pick out countries as significant as China or India on a map.

Should be the world map according to Republicans. Of course, to hear them tell it, Republicans are the only "real Americans" anyway.

No, let's not be all political and crap. I have known just as many mega-left types who didn't know South America from their assholes. It's not political leaning - it's the fact that Americans just don't place a lot of emphasis on the world outside of their corner of the planet.

Ignorance of geography knows no political bounds, that is true. But the values embodied in that particular map are pretty clearly right wing. A similar map could be drawn up for liberals, pointing out where the best drugs come from, and where the friendly socialists are. It would be about as amusing.

Good thing being in the Geography Bee helps me actually pick out countries on a map.

Just because some Americans don't know where Canada is doesn't mean the majority does.

I would assume that most people period are ignorant of geography, not just Americans. Funny picture though.
