Same thing with me and Kirby's Dream Land (beat it the next morning). The second was muuuuuuuuuch longer.

I remember when I bought Final Fantasy X-2 brand new. I saw the commercial, looked awesome, played it, was throughly disappointed. I had the least fun with that game out of all the RPGs I had played :( Going from Grandia 2, Skies of Arcadia and PSO to that was kind of like... wow... I'll just replay those lol

Final Fantasy XII and Kingdom Hearts: Re:Coded for me.

I got Final Fantasy XII as a christmas gift at during a time when I was trying to catch up with all the Final Fantasy games at the time. I guess what put me off of the game was the MMORPG-style gameplay and the dialogue and story which made me feel like I was back in my english class reading the Final Fantasy version of Julius Caesar.

As for Re:Coded, I preordered that game (since Birth by Sleep GREATLY revived my interest in the series) only to find IMO that the game was yet another rehash of the first Kingdom Hearts, Hollow Bastion came for me way too quickly, and the overall ending felt abrupt. Once I unlocked the Secret Ending, I put it away. The blow wouldn't hurt so much if I haven't RESERVED IT because I was expecting something like Birth by Sleep.

I didn't mind FFXII too much. I liked it's smooth battle system (no annoying random battles!!) and the gambit system was kind of cool. And personally I liked the more sophisticated dialogue - but it did get rather cliche after a while.

I feel it's weak points are it's rather bland cast of characters and rather forgettable main villain. The final boss was way too easy imo as well, and the weird contrast between these super serious characters and their ridiculous metal thongs and mini-skirts was sort of out of place.

The main reason for it's differences was because they had the guy who did Final Fantasy Tactics and Vagrant Story (Matsuno?) to do it and he quit about half way through.

I would say it disappointed me in those aspects - but overall I enjoyed the game. I wanted to like it a lot more because of it's relationship with Tactics.

I have a love/hate relationship with FFXII. On one hand, I think it's a really solid RPG, one of the finest RPGs produced on the PS2, in a lot of ways. On the other hand, it's VERY boring, the plot sucks, the cast is completely forgettable (mainly because of the bizarre and completely out of place presence of Vaan and Penelo), and it deviates from previous FF titles just too much.

If it was centered around Basch as originally intended, had a more interesting narrative, wasn't so "MMO-like" in presentation and design, and didn't have Vaan and Penelo putting a permanent drag on just about every scene, I would have been able to enjoy it way more.

Also, it should have been called Final Fantasy: Ivalice, or something like that. Just like FFXI should have just been called Final Fantasy Online, and FFXIV should have been called Final Fantasy Online 2 (surprised no one has mentioned being crushed by FFXIV being unplayable/incomplete on launch yet). The last numbered FF game should have been 10. A nice even number to end on, and it was the last traditional turn based one. XIII is it's own entire series for chrissake, it should have just been called Final Fantasy: Fabula Nova Crystallis, and all of the other titles should have incorporated this name, or something similar.

I dunno. Final Fantasy sucks.

I'd agree with all the above points for XII. The coolest character was probably that Al Cid guy and he only showed up to talk in his sexy accent for about two scenes and hit on all the women then disappeared. I was definitely hoping for a better story and it was certainly forgettable.

Back when FFVII came out I really disliked RPGs and Final Fantasy in general, but I loved Tactics for whatever reason. The character customization was awesome in that game - if Final Fantasy brought something like like that back I would be impressed.

I don't own a PS3 so no comment on XIII.

Ha, me as well.

In the long run though, these games are worth it if you really enjoy them (plus they're great for 1-2 hour car rides) and the replay value remains relatively high.

Assassin's Creed. It was fun for the first half hour or so, but the game was just so bland. I just couldn't get into it at all.

On a different note, I almost bought Two Worlds new. Decided to just play more Oblivion instead, and bought Two Worlds for $20 down the road. That was probably the worst $20 I ever spent.

Not me

but my friend bought Goldeneye007Wii on day one,and while he had a bit of fun with it,after he and i played multiplayer, and i vocaled my severe dislike about the game,he started to hate it too,and we went back to the N64 version within a week

(Yes,me and my friend played Goldeneye007(N64) religiously from 2009 to 2010,but now,we have discovered the awesomeness that is TimeSplitters 1,and when we totally finish that game, its time for TimeSplitters 2 :D )
