Any Evangelion fans here? I have some questions
Re: Any Evangelion fans here? I have some questions
I read it. I'm not one to get riled up about this sort of thing, but I hold Akira is VERY regard. I'm not even sure what to say after reading all that. Is it even real?

On one hand I'm full of righteous indignation they would butcher a masterpiece in animation...
But on the other hand I think we all saw this coming. Movie studios are only interesting in what works and what brings in the money.
In this case however they can't do it! Firstly the mainstream public of America have probably never heard of Akira let alone watch anime. Lets face it, the biggest audience for this film will be the fans of the genre and the original movie/manga. If they hollywood it up and do everything that was presented in that abomination of a script they are setting them selves up for a commercial failure. The most hardcore fans will go to see it first and quickly spread the word to all their friends and other fans that the movie is complete and utter elephant dung and then the mainstream public will catch on and disregard it (that is if they haven't already due to the foreign name).
Of course their will always be a faction of dipshits who will think it's the greatest thing since whatever the hell George Lucas crapped out last. =P
In any case - I'm still confused as to even why they want to make this...why do things need to be "live action"?

In all honesty about Akira, even the movie was an abomination compared to the Manga - BUT - the movie was still awesome.
What gets me about that Cracked article is that he's complaining that they turned Akira....into what he was in the manga. :\
Other than that, I'm 200% sure it's going to be absolutely atrocious. I remember when they said they were going to change Tetsuo's name to "Travis."
Can you imagine?

Being harsh, I don't think the original Godzilla was any good.MrPopo wrote:This isn't the first time we've totally cocked up something from Japan:
