Amnesia was reviewed by Yahtzee (who hates everything)... and he actually kind of liked it! HEY MIKEY!

I finally completed the game. There are 3 different endings depending on how you handle the final scene. Each ending gives you a few numbers and letters. These letters make-up a password to a file in the game's folders called "super_secret.rar". If you combine the 3 password pieces together properly, you can unzip this folder and view the "special features" section of the game to learn more about how it was made.

I downloaded this game directly from the Frictional website about a week ago. I am currently in the water scene JT has been talking about, and it does take some nerve to progress. I would probably be further in the game if I weren't such a scaredy cat, but boy, is it fun. And well made. And I am playing it on Ubuntu and it works great. I think it was programmed in linux or something? Not sure, but whatever, it rules. Duty done!

There is a bonus level of Amnesia that was recently added for the Portal 2 ARG. I think I may have to re-install and give it a go.

Also, this highlight reel of watching someone play Amnesia in the dark by himself is hilarious:

I'm so pissed I can't play it. Turns out it hates my video card, and the devs don't know why.

Did you see that picture I put up of my hardcopy release JT? It's not much in the way of thrills, but having an official disc is pretty cool.

Oh, that's a bummer it won't work with your card. If anyone needs to play this game, you do. That's cool you got the hardcopy. I missed the photo.

Hey, I've been meaning to ask you though, have you played Realms of the Haunting? Somehow I had never heard of it until it got re-released on gog a week ago. It's a lot like Amnesia/Penumbra, but older and clunkier. I really dig though.

Actually that post you wrote about it was the first I'd ever heard of it, but after reading up on it, I think I need to pick it up. Add it to the massive list of games on GOG I want to get.

Tell me about it. And for some reason I like supporting GoG over Steam, haha.

So with the lights down low, I played the bonus level of Amnesia. As can be expected, it is scary and twisted. If you want to play it, begin from the setup splash screen before you load the game. You will see a box that says "Justine". Click on that and it will put you in this bonus content storyline.

As it begins, you are told that you only get one life and there is no way to save. This is true, which makes it all the more intense. I didn't survive my first play, so I'm here writing about it. Apparently in this version of Amnesia you are a woman instead of Daniel. There is now the voice of a woman taunting you throughout via phonograph recordings throughout the game. This makes her sort of like GLaDOS.
There are puzzles that can be solved by killing people. The game tells you it is a test of character, so maybe it's possible to solve puzzles without sacrificing others, but I've been killing them... I feel a bit guilty about that.

I got killed in a room full of potatos. I think I caught the joke, stopped playing serious for a second, and got myself killed. Crash to desktop. I'll try again later.

The Justine bonus content is now available for everyone (whether on Steam or not).

There are also several new mods that have been released:
