You're missing what Nintendo is saying. Many US companies seem to design their games based around formulas and focus groups; a bunch of executives in a room deciding "cover based shooters are the hot thing, let's make one of those". Nintendo, on the other hand, has always made whatever's fun, under the theory that fun sells. And looking at the tails on first party titles you can see this strategy works.elmagicochrisg wrote:As if they themselves do it for charity... lol

Does anybody know when the next batch of games are supposed to be coming for it? I know before June, but any specific dates for like Kid Icarus?

Re: Nintendo 3DS
Well... Ocarina of Time was announced for release on June 19th in the US.
I believe Star Fox 64 was given a July release in Japan, so I'm sure it will follow sometime right after that in the US.
Other releases worth noting:
Dream Trigger 3D - May 10th - safe alternative to drugs
Dead or Alive Dimensions - May 24th
BlazBlue Continuum Shift II - May 24th
Cave Story 3D - June 28th
SMT: Devil Summonor Overclocked - June 28th
Expect a barrage of announcements once E3 rolls around in June.

Actually it's a global release date of July 17th according to Ninty's press release. They kept flip flopping on whether to release it in Japan or not after the earthquake too, which while understandable is starting to get ridiculous.FerretGamer wrote:I believe Star Fox 64 was given a July release in Japan, so I'm sure it will follow sometime right after that in the US.

You've got a point. Still, you can't deny Nintendo put their once famous 'seal of quality' up for grabs with all the shovelware they allow on the Wii...MrPopo wrote:You're missing what Nintendo is saying. The Seal of Quality wasn't exactly a ringing endorsement either. There was a ton of terrible stuff that came out on the NES.

Sure, but the crap reached an all-time peak with the Wii...MrPopo wrote:The Seal of Quality wasn't exactly a ringing endorsement either. There was a ton of terrible stuff that came out on the NES.
What I meant to say was that they do act like a business as much as everyone else. If it was all fun 'n games they would've halted A LOT of games that have come out on Wii already. I do remember Nintendo being much more critical back in the NES / SNES days. Sure it had crap, but a lot of crap was actually halted and never released...

Re: Nintendo 3DS
I don't see any reason why a third party shouldn't be allowed to release crap on Nintendo's system. The key is that Nintendo's games are built with fun in mind. Nintendo doesn't give money to the third parties to release games on the Wii, so it's very different from Activision and EA, which Nintendo's statement alluded to.
