I actually think a friend of mine and I beat Battletoads two-player, guess we were both up to the task and had the patience.
Fuck level 2 and the other racing stages, the most brutal stage for us was Rat Race. Still to this day probably one of the scariest things I've ever seen in a videogame, ever.
How hard do you like it?

Most people only think the speed bikes is the hardest stage because they never made it to Rat Race. That level, and the final spiraling tower are a damn nightmare.Xeogred wrote: Fuck level 2 and the other racing stages, the most brutal stage for us was Rat Race. Yup, haha. That final tower was definitely annoying. I think I remember hating the weird snake maze level too, whatever it was called (think it had a lot of pits and instant deaths or something?)J T wrote:Most people only think the speed bikes is the hardest stage because they never made it to Rat Race. Honestly don't think I've ever beaten Battletoads & Double Dragon, though I guess I never gave it too much attention. Same with the SNES game (hated the huge sprites). It's funny how easy the arcade Battletoads game is compared to the originals though, but it's still really fun and you gotta love the gore in that one.

Holy shit is the arcade version of Battletoads awesome! Did you notice that when you fight enemies bigger than you that when you're close enough and grab them the toads are basically grabbing the enemies by the balls and punching them?!
I laughed my ass off when I saw that!
The original Battletoads I just never hadd the patience for but w/ all this talk about the game I have the urge to finally conquor this game once and for all. Anyone know if there are any differences on the Genesis version? I played it very briefly and didn't really notice anything other than graphics upgrade but I didn't know if they added more stages or changed the difficulty? Once I get through the original then I'll attempt Battletoads/Dragon and Battletoads in Battlemaniacs.

I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

I've come pretty darn close to beating Battletoads & Double Dragon. It's a pretty good game actually. Don't care much for the SNES one either.Xeogred wrote:Honestly don't think I've ever beaten Battletoads & Double Dragon, though I guess I never gave it too much attention. According to some youtube comments the Genesis version is toned down a bit, like the Rat in Rat Race is apparently slower... so that stage is probably easier. Might be easier all around I guess.Evildeadmanwalking77 wrote:The original Battletoads I just never hadd the patience for but w/ all this talk about the game I have the urge to finally conquor this game once and for all. The Genesis version is significantly easier. It also has a few bugs and the physics aren't as good. The NES version is better, but the genesis one isn't bad.
