- Sonic CD, I was lucky enough to have a JVC as a kid and this was before the N64/PSX. Can you imagine? This blew my face off and this game is immortal to me. I unlocked like everything and would just dance around in my room being a goofy kid to all of the music in the game back in the day. Memories I'll never forget. I love the Japanese version as well actually, yes. But the US one is maximum nostalgia.
- Metroid / Super Metroid
- Mega Man 2, 3, 4 are all great.
- FFVI
- Thunder Force IV ... "HOLY SHIT!" This is the Genesis?!?
- Secret of Mana ... manly tears. This is the SNES!?!?

Oh God, I remember this. Playing Sonic CD on the computer, and seeing that opening. Can't believe I forgot to put it >.>Xeogred wrote:- Sonic CD, I was lucky enough to have a JVC as a kid and this was before the N64/PSX. Can you imagine? I really like Bubble Bobble's intro, particularly the Amiga port's music.

For Intro Theme I have to go with NHLPA 93
Easily one of my favorite intros.
NHL 98

"Are you afraid... of the masked man?"
Kick ass intro/music/live action video.

Re: Favorite Game Intro Themes
I was going to post Metroid Prime and Secret of Mana, but since people already posted those, I'll submit this. You boot the game up and hear this cool guitar intro and think the game will be fun. Then you actually play it and realize how terribly, terribly wrong you were.
Also, I've always really liked the SaGa Frontier Opening Theme.

I'm known as ZebetiteGlitch or Zeza Von Thantos on other platforms.

Re: Favorite Game Intro Themes
I agree w/ Double Dragon on NES, Sonic CD and on most 8-bit NES games had great intro music.
My personal favs:
Mega Man 2
The Legend of Zelda
Castlevania
Mike Tyson's Punch Out
Friday the 13th
Contra (yeah it's short but sweet & can't beat that gun shot sound when you press start!)
Batman
RC Pro Am
Toe Jam & Earl
Sonic the Hedge Hog
Super Mario World
That's all I can think of at the moment.

I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!
Re: Favorite Game Intro Themes
Streets of Rage 2. The evil crimelord Mister X has taken over the city. The music communicates how hopeless the situation has become for the good citizens, but then Yuzo Koshiro's drums start in and it's like heartbeat coming back into the city because we're taking it to the streets!
Icewind Dale. Jeremy Soule's musical intro totally gets me in the mood to embark on a journey across this barren land and slay some goblins. The music makes me want to slay some dragons too, but I don't remember any of them in this game.
Golden Axe. When the words spin around that Golden Axe symbol and the drums start a-thumping I'm ready to unsheath my axe/sword and punish Death Adder for usurping the throne.
