Well, when the Together Retro game was Battletoads, I think I was the only one who actually played it until I won, so my answer should be pretty easy to guess, lol.

I did, and on an NES cartridge. It's no fun otherwise.

Though honestly, the warps really don't help make the game easier, lol. Skipping level 2 is a terrible idea, since that's the only chance you get to gain a significant amount of lives, skipping level 4 is okay, but you'll miss out on a couple 1up chances, and skipping level 5 is just dumb since it's not that hard and has a couple 1ups. The only worthwhile skip is the one at the beginning of level 6, since 6 has no 1ups and gives almost no points, and 7 is one of the harder stages in the game. After that though, NONE of the levels(8-12) can be skipped, and they're all significantly more difficult than the first half of the game.

Continues don't really help much either. You only get 3, and when you continue, you start at the beginning of the stage with 3 extra lives. On the end game stages, namely 9 and 12, this just doesn't cut it more often than not. With that in mind, I don't really think one needs to set the goal of winning without continues for this game. The first few times I completed the game, I used continues, but I wanted to do it without just for the satisfaction, and eventually did. It's just about getting into a great run and keeping it up.

I do love this game though, it's a blast for masochists like me.

I'd be willing to do it, but I don't have any friends that enjoy punishment as much as me. :c

I've beaten it on single-player too. I actually do have a friend that enjoys video game punishment as much as me, but we've never been able to beat it on two player. It's just... a really big pain in the ass. Fun as hell though.

For reference, Battletoads was the January Together Retro game. I finished the game for the first time in June. Just an idea of what you'd be putting yourself through.

i would want nothing less. :P and since it's going to be two player, it's going to be twice as painful since both players needs to accomplished each stage perfectly.
