Best free screen recorder?
I'm looking into recording gameplay off of my PC (OS is XP BTW). What would you buys recommend for a free screen recorder?

Fully free I mean. I don't want damn WaterMarks and I certainly don't want a limit on how long I can record.J T wrote:Fraps: http://www.fraps.com/

Be a real man and draw every single frame by hand and then compile a flick book.

I've used one before called CamStudio, which is okayish. Not really good for recording video game play though. It does have options like mic support and the ability to record whatever sounds are playing on the computer. So not too bad for a free program.

@OP: Get CamStudio and the loss-less codec (it should be on its site, if not, Google it.)
Its SWF features are garbage but I'm very satisfied with its movie output, even with games. You need a decent computer... and maybe with TOO advanced games it won't work well. Having XP as your OS won't matter.

I use CamStudio and it is pretty good, but I never could get it to record from whatever was playing on the speakers...BRIK wrote:I've used one before called CamStudio, which is okayish. Anyone knows how to do that?
EDIT: This sort of worked for me

I needed to try the instructions some times and I'm not sure exactly what did it the last time, but it eventually started working.

I'll test out Camstudio today to see how it work.
