Re: Best Quote Ever.
Thought their overly negative views on life could get tiresome and I didn't agree with them on some things, I do agree that Hicks and Carlin were brilliant. They certainly said a lot of truthful things that some people simply couldn't handle or never even thought about. Both of these guys were a lot more than just comedians. They didn't just get the laughs, they left you with stuff to think about. I think Hicks was a bit more brilliant than Carlin though and had a bit of a better understanding of how certain things in life work than Carlin did. Still, Carlin was awesome.
I love Carlin's hilarious take on suicide. I've listened to it so many times. Here's a link:

"Wait, you don't care about anyone but yourself. Why would you go back in time, and save some cruise liner called the Titanic from being sunk?"
"So they'll never make that stupid movie and I'll never have to hear that god awful Celine Dion song again. . . .Any more questions?"
"Celine who?"
"Exactly"
I love watching Supernatural

You might be surprised. His second wife just came out with a book about him which prints a lot of his notes to her over the years. In it, she mentions that they believed they would be together forever in some way and that she expects to be reunited with him.Inazuma wrote:Oh, the irony. I certainly didn't expect anything like that from George Carlin, but then most of the book's reprinted notes show a sweeter, sillier side of the man, far removed from the stage persona of his later years. I'm glad to know he still had that side to him in his later years because his last shows seemed increasingly angry and one-dimensional. For me, the prime Carlin years are from the early 80's to the mid 90's, though he did good work before and after.
As for the original R.I.P. remark, my guess is that his biggest objection would be that it's a cliche.
