Have you ever found a game you've reserved disappointing?

Post by JokermanJohnny »

Sometimes, I look at release dates on certain video games to preorder them if its a game I'm really looking for and/or if the game comes with some special item that you get when it's preordered. Since I really don't have that much in the way of an income, I rarely do this.

The reason I brought this up is because the last game I reserved, "Kingdom Hearts: Re:Coded" came across as "meh", especially when compared to Birth by Sleep, which, as of this entry is my personal favorite of the KH games.

Have you guys ever reserved a game for whatever reason, only to find it disappointing?

No, because I've never reserved a game. I never, and I mean never, buy a game for full price before I see reviews for it. Even a great series can make mistakes, after all.

Nope, because I only reserved two games. The first being Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal and the second being Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction. I reserved those to get their demo discs from GameStop and wasn't disappointed.

The only game I ever reserved was Chrono Cross. And no, I was not disappointed.

I mentioned two games I reserved and bought day one - only to want to split my head open with an ice cream scoop after just the first 10 minutes..

I'm trying to picture how that would work.

It isn't pretty.

I always wait for reviews to come out before I buy a game because you never know what you're gonna get. All the stuff that usually come with pre-orders never interests me, its all crap that's gonna end up on the bottom of your cupboard anyway.

I guess what got me back into pre-ordering was Epic Mickey, which looking back, was a game I enjoyed despite problems with the camera. I told my dad once that maybe if stores offered something like a soundtrack or a plush toy, or even a special figurine (which Epic Mickey had), I would be more inclined to pre-order.

Quick question: were there any recent games that came along with soundtracks for preordering them?
