I bought Fairytale Fights for ~60 bucks brand new. I took it home and got a couple hours into it before I realized what a rushed, glitchy piece of shit it was. Within a few weeks of the game being out the price was already down to around twenty bucks.
The game had so much potential with fourplayer co-op hack and slash, gore and blood physics, a "wide variety" of weapons but it was just garbage. I played it probably three times the first week and haven't touched it since.

I picked it up when it got marked down and even then I regretted throwing down a 20 on it..Para wrote:I bought Fairytale Fights for ~60 bucks brand new. I've played it only once since that day and it was only on a drunken gaming bender..
Yeesh - what a stinker, that game!

I remember considering Fairytale fights when I saw it for 20 bucks.
I passed on it at the time, and looking at these posts I guess that was a good choice.

That's what demos are for. I couldn't even stand the demo.

As a few others have mentioned, Marvel vs. Capcom 3.
As someone who's mainly a retro gamer, its been a long time since I've been excited about a new game coming out. (Even though I'm playing Starcraft 2 a lot now, I wasn't really that excited about it coming out; I didn't get into it until after seeing it.) I'd never really played and of the other MvC games, but I know how much people loved them, so my friend and I decided to split buying MvC3 when it came out so we'd have something fun to do when we were in the mood for a modern game. After playing it for a week or two, we got bored very fast and pretty much haven't played it since. As I said, I haven't really played the other MvCs, so I don't know if these are hallmarks of the series of just MvC3's shortcomings, but the game just felt so swingy, and the controls were really ambiguous sometimes (I can't tell you how many times I tried to do a crossover combo only to have it switch my guys). Anyways, we pretty quickly just went back to playing some incarnation Street Fighter 2 when we want to play a fighting game. And I definitely regret spending $30 on what could've been spent on multiple SNES games I probably would've had a lot more fun with.

I'm known as ZebetiteGlitch or Zeza Von Thantos on other platforms.

Yeah, I bought this at launch. I was really excited about it coming out, and if I remember correctly the reviews were pretty good too. I did play the old one (Marvel vs Capcom 2 on Dreamcast) and I remember liking it a lot more than MvC3... I'm hoping it'll grow on me.KillemallCFH wrote:As a few others have mentioned, Marvel vs. Capcom 3.
Oh, And FarCry for the Wii. I have never regretted a purchase anymore than this.
I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes.
Re: Games you bought brand new and regretted
Glad to see I'm not alone on MvC3. It's hard to explain my distaste for it. I don't really hate the game or anything, it just kind of disappointed on pretty much every level.
Re: Games you bought brand new and regretted
Almost every game makes me mad. LOL
I could spend $60 right now or wait 3 or 4 months and spend $30. Why not wait 3 months and get 2 games for the price of 1 new. I wish PS3 games didnt cost $60... so i just wait out the price drop. And usually end up buying it used...still mad at sony for taking away my OtherOS option.

Bought Strider for the NES with my own money at full price (within a week of it's launch) only to beat the game in less than an hour. Now I like the game, but I felt like I had to hide the fact I beat the game so quickly from my parents.
Oh, and the Sonic port for the GBA. That game just doesn't play like it does with blast processing.
