I'm really liking the art direction so far.

...in the game you play as the four Umbrella Security Service Agents: Vector, Spectre, Bertha and Beltway, your mission is to assassinate Leon Kennedy, who uncovered the truth behind the outbreak and Umbrella Corporation.
If they can pull the game mechanics together, it should be a fun 4 player coop romp.

And I fully expect more whining, but think about this: It is well known that Resident Evil 1 and 2 were influenced (at least partially) by Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead (the original, not the shitty remake). The first several mins of Dawn of the Dead involved tactical units desperately trying to hold the city together. What is so wrong with revisiting this sequence in the Resident Evil universe?

What about Jill and Claire? They were both still in Raccoon city during 2-3, or at least at one point. Leon's in it so that makes it more enjoyable, even if the games goal is to kill him.

I was playing as a Spec Ops commando. My enemy was a menacing, fully-armed soldier of the evil Umbrella corporation. We were near a gas station, in the dark. I knew he was shooting at me from behind, so I wheeled around.

I'm not a very good shot, so I couldn't just score a headshot from a virtual 20 paces and be done with it.

I think I got him in the body. Not a kill shot, but he started hemorrhaging. Good for me. Bad for him.
Zombies and bio-engineered monsters can smell blood. Lucky for me, zombies and bio-engineered monsters lurch through the multiplayer maps of Raccoon City. As soon as I drew blood with that gunshot, a Hunter — a clawed beast on two legs — scrambled up to my enemy and mauled him.

I was trying, at least a little bit, to view this with an open mind. This is just utter shit though. Who the hell is the target audience for this?

Truly the scariest Resident Evil game ever.

IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN!

But seriously, wow.

Video I found on Game Trailers from E3: http://www.gametrailers.com/user-movie/ ... t=featured

The gameplay actually looks pretty good. There are some oddities when it comes to melee combat, but the gunplay looks solid. The game engine actually looks better than SOCOM 4. It has a very arcade-like look - early 2ks SEGA or Namco. Like... I would expect to see this in an arcade if they were still around.

Some interesting things I noticed:

-you can become infected and turn into a zombie
-when you start bleeding the zombies will swarm you
-hordes and hordes of zombies. RE5's mobs pale in comparison to this.

Big RE fan since 97. Won't be getting this. I'm sick of all the spin offs. We got the Survivor games, that awful Gaiden game, the Outbreak games, the Chronicles games and now another online game. I just want plain old fashioned RE. And I'm tired of going back to Raccoon City. I love RC from RE 2 and 3, but Outbreak's all ready been back there.

I think it's safe to say RE has officially become the Final Fantasy of survival horror games, spin offs and remakes galore
They have escaped into the mansion where they thought it was safe, yet.

Fixed
Yeeess.

I don't know. I get excited about anything Resident Evil immediately because I love the early games with all my heart. I am more likely to check this one out, as a remake, than any completely new RE games that get released. I'd enjoy wandering around even more of Raccoon City, and to see what they do with the buildings and quests and characters this time around. It might be interesting.

Also, goody-goody Leon never gets old. But I'll wait to hear what those of you say who go ahead and buy the game before I do the same.
