Break Up Story

Post by HeavyMetalMe »

So, there I was, sitting in my room minding my own business when my girlfriend entered the room. "Oh, great" I think to myself, as she's been annoying me all day with phone calls and text messages, even know she knew I was out with a buddy I don't get to see often, but she did it anyways.

She enters and immediately lets me know she's pissed off. Great. At this time I've turned on Chaos Field for Gamecube and begun shmupping. As I'm sitting there, she begins to rant and ramble about how I'm self-centered, and this isn't working, blah blah blah. Long story short, I continued to shmup till my girlfriend dumped me.

That's right, I lost my girlfriend to Chaos Field.

Here's the kicker- she totally tripped over the controller cord and the way out.

I always wanted something liket his, just like in Mallrats. Too bad I wasn't playing NHL on my Genesis...

The contempt I feel for someone the moment they trip on my cord and jerk my console is indescribable. You have to be a fucking retard to trip on a controller cord. Sorry for your loss.
Let my legs shake me to sleep, and don't wake me when I sweat on my sheets.

You sure she didn't do that on purpose man??? I mean I'd be pissed off too if I lost my girl/guy to a game. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. It's time like this that you wish you had a RESET BUTTON...or maybe a cheating device that can give you invincibility or maybe an extra live or two. :P

Joking aside, sorry to hear about your break up dude. Hope your tears and sorrow can be washed away with some shmups. May I suggest Ikaruga.

I thought it was some NHL game on Saturn. It looked 3D.

Anyways, you are awesome.

Edit: Wiki says it was basically a Genesis game. That's hard to believe.
In the scene where Brodie is playing as the Hartford Whalers in a video hockey game for the Genesis, the sound effects and gameplay do not match: he is playing the bespoke NHL All-Star Hockey, while the organ music is from EA Sports' seminal NHL series. Smith wanted to use the more popular EA game in the film, as he is a fan of it, but could not due to rights issues and promotional considerations, the NHL series was used.
Edit2: This? Seriously? Is this right?

Interesting... well I guess it is good the two of you broke it off if you have that much disinterest in her.
Personally I've never broken up during a video game; I have because of video games, and I have refused sex in favor of video games, but never broke up during a video game.

As I tell every girl I've dated. "I'll never cheat on you, ever. If I have the desire to actually do it I must be losing interest in you, should step back and assess the supposed relationship."

Yeah dude, listen to Lordofduct. He is a wise man. :) Things happen for a reason. Maybe breaking up with her is for the best.

Hey Lordofduct, when you suggested for him to "assess the supposed relationship", were you referring to his relationship with his video games or his ex??? Who knows, he was cheating on his video games with his ex. "I may not be a very smart man" as quoted by Forrest Gump. :P

Of course the fact that you continued to play the game while she was talking to you about this stuff is no indication of why she broke up with you, right? ;)

Nice to see you have your priorities straight~ :D

That reminded me of Jeff Daniels in Dumb & Dumber (paraphrasing here): "My girlfriend broke up with me because I didn't listen to her or something like that... I wasn't really paying attention"

(Anyone have that Sony women remote image handy for the post?)
