I have the most experience with Masterboy 2.02 (gb/gbc/master system/gamegear) emulator. I've used it for the Zelda GBC games and it was flawless. I've used it for other GBC games and have had no issues except for Shantae. Shantae seems to give all emulators fits except for one on the PC (I forget the name).
I'll list the other ones I used later this week.
Anyone else think that emulators on the PSP suck

MasterBoy is incredible. I'm not certain which version I'm using.

Re: Anyone else think that emulators on the PSP suck
I always had two big gripes with PSP emulation. One was lack of games on MAME. You had to get emulators specifically made for running Capcom games or Neo Geo games. Everything else is pretty much off limits, including Konami's vast catalog of awesome arcade beat'em ups. This just seems like laziness on the part of the people who make PSP emulators as I see know reason why we have emulators that can perfectly run any Capcom or Neo Geo arcade game, but not others. I have even seen some of Capcom's later arcade fighters run perfectly on the PSP so the system certainly has the muscle to handle any arcade game
My second problem of course, was SNES emulation. Some people may say it's not that bad. In my experience, it pretty much sucks. You can try doing all sorts of tweaks or changes to the settings, but I don't have the patience for that crap. With my other emulators, I simply boot it up, pick a rom and play with no problems. SNES games always lag or have performance issues. It's awful and I wouldn't recommend it. Genesis emulation is pretty much the way to go
I have also had the occasional Capcom fighter freeze up my PSP for no apparent reason. Never figured that out. Also, memory sticks I have noticed may have an effect on performance, but I'm not sure if it effects emulation. I know that they certainly have a dramatic effect on any PS1 games or PSP game that you may have saved on the memory stick however. The larger the amount of memory, the worse the performance of whatever you are playing due to the large memory sticks using a different file system than the small ones. So for emulating a Playstation or PSP game I use memory sticks with the least amount of memory
Also, I remember seeing something about a DS emulator. I don't know how much work has been done on that though but I know one existed

Oh, one more thing I should have added to my above post, PSP seems to emulate Lucasarts adventure games pretty well, which is pretty cool.

oh yeah, the PSP port of VMSCUMM is amazing. I played Monkey Island for Together Retro as such, and it looked incredible on the PSP screen.

Which games have you played? I've played Super Mario RPG and I thought it was flawless. There were a couple of other games (I can't remember the names) that were also flawless for me.

I guess flawless is in the eye of the beholder, right? Many games via the PSP emulator (especially platformers) suffer from slight input lag, and the need to increase frameskip to the point where you practically get a brain aneurysm just trying to look at it. Super Mario RPG in particular runs quite slow, as do many others. It's a fairly painful experience when you're used to something better.
Unless there's been some fabulous update that I'm not aware of, even games like Super Mario World are very difficult to play.

i have 6.35 hen and and a fat psp and these are the emulators I'm using and their problems
nesterJ (NES) it emulates fine for the most part, but the saves sometimes wont load and i lose all my progress... that really pissed me off.. and earth bound wont work
9xSNES slim port[i think] it lags A LOT, it gets really anoying and no other SNES emulator will work on my psp
DGEN (Genessis) lags a lot and for some reason your guy turns invisible for a few seconds when he gets hit :\ .. I'm not sure why.. and that happens on most games
dealdux(or sometin like that)64 (Nintendo 64) it's not very good.. but this one is understandable tho..
emumaster (GB, GBC, SMS, GC) works great!

race(Neo Geo pocket color) also works great... well, i think that all neo geo pocket color emulation sucks because that stick thingy is so unique... but that's not the PSP's fault though..
UO gpsp(GameBoy Advance) surprisingly, works great!
out of all the emulators the ones i was really looking forward to play were the NES, Super Nintendo, Genesis, GBA and mame(the mame one didn't even work!)
the only one i really play is the GBA one.. which i'll stop playing as soon as i get a working flash card..
i'll just play the games on the computer and be happy i guess..lol
i have a:

Emumaster is a ripoff of Brunni's Masterboy. Some kid comes along named Genesis Vids and "released" Masterboy 2.10 and then did Emu Master 3.0. He was vague in what bugs he actually fixed. I'm skeptical that he actually did any meaningful work other than change the version and some bitmaps. Unlike Brunni, his source is not available.
The same person has a Youtube channel where one of his videos proclaimed the first 6.0 custom firmware for the PSP and "I'm only giving it to my buddies". Yeah, sure.
