Anyone else miss multiple disks for JRPGs?

I liked how discs neatly split a game up into acts, it gave the games a certain momentum that's missing now. On the other hand I got the feeling that RPG developers began feeling compelled to have four discs to give people the feeling that the game was "epic" even if a lot of that was just filler and padding.

Yes and No.

Yes because getting from disc 1 to disc 2 felt like a solid accomplishment. I was advancing. I had momentum.

No because nowadays you have assclowns on ebay trying to sell you just disc 3 of FF7 for 30 bucks, and getting buyers who bite.

Should I feel bad that if I do get a ps1, I'm modchipping the hell out of it and mainly running backups because of that? The PS1 rpg library is expensive man >.>
