Yep, Project64 really sucks. I'm thinking about just getting an N64 since the library's smaller. The only problem for me is that right now, all I have is an LCD HDTV and I'm afraid the N64 would look like shit on it.gtmtnbiker wrote:I don't think there's a good N64 emulator on any platform except for the one bundled with each Wii N64 VC game.nightrnr wrote: N64 is even worse, but it is still good for a few games (Doom 64, Smash Bros, F-Zero). But you've got to realize that it's very limited compared to PCs.

My 64 looks great hooked up to an LCD HDTV with the S-video cable.
Of course, as finicky as hdtvs are with older consoles, your mileage may vary, but I thought I'd try to encourage you.

No! I think the emulators on the PSP are really impressive. True, the SNES lags a bit but that's mostly due to the hardware it's running on - some very talented people have tried their best. There are different revisions of some emulators for PSP 1000 and slim models to take advantage of the different amount of ram (slim has 64 megs more), so you should seek out the right emulators for your model to get the best performance.

Re: Anyone else think that emulators on the PSP suck
I've only done a Genesis and SNES emulator on the PSP, and these were back in 2005. The Genesis worked fine, the SNES one ran at like a tenth of the speed and I just gave up on that.
Also, Project64 isn't that bad, but a lot of games do have errors but are still playable (Ocarina of Time the textures for roads, triforce symbols, etc. on the ground vanish when you walk towards them, which can cause trouble when your cue to play Zelda's Lullaby goes missing), but some are almost completely unplayable (Yoshi's Story, Pokemon Snap, Paper Mario).

Re: Anyone else think that emulators on the PSP suck
A question for those who are still emulating regularly on their PSP: What emulators (and versions of said emulators) are you using?
I haven't had mine out for a while, and I believe all I had on my stick was a NES emulator to play some Mother with. I'm hearing that GBA emulation is quite good, and I'd be interested in checking that out for example.
Genesis: ?
GB/C/A: ?
NES:
SNES: SNES9x TYCL Mem still?
Anything else worth mentioning? (Other than PS1 obviously.)
I'm still on firmware 5.00 M33-6 on a PSP-2000 with an official Sony 32GB Memory Stick Pro Duo, so space is not an issue.

@irixith, well I'm on 6.35 PRO, so it might be different, but I can go through my folders and tell you everything I'm using. I use NES a bit, but GB/GBC/GBA the most.

For Genesis, PicoDrive 1.51.irixith wrote:A question for those who are still emulating regularly on their PSP: What emulators (and versions of said emulators) are you using?

Re: Anyone else think that emulators on the PSP suck
I personally love my psp for emulation. The emulators I use are:
Genesis: PicoDrive - Works flawlessly for me for regular Genesis games. Haven't played with Sega CD on here yet. 32x isn't compatable as far as I can tell.
GB: RIN v 1.32 - No problems here. Not sure about GBC capabilities on this Emulator.
GBA:GameplaySP - One or two games have given me some issues (PSP crashes) but what runs does so flawlessly.
NES:NesterJ 1.11 - Haven't Had an Issue Yet
SNES: Snes 9x Euphoria R2 - Not Perfect, but most things run fine. Anything using the Super FX chip isn't playable though.
N64: Daedalusx64 - Runs most of what I want it to, but I see it as a glorified tech demo. I honestly don't spend too much time with this one.
I'm running 5.00 M33-6 on an original phat PSP so YMMV.

Re: Anyone else think that emulators on the PSP suck
I have the most experience with Masterboy 2.02 (gb/gbc/master system/gamegear) emulator. I've used it for the Zelda GBC games and it was flawless. I've used it for other GBC games and have had no issues except for Shantae. Shantae seems to give all emulators fits except for one on the PC (I forget the name).
I'll list the other ones I used later this week.
