So I ordered the PS3 version of Portal 2 on Amazon yesterday for $55 + $20 back in Amazon credit. Sounded like a good deal.
The thing is, I really don't think I'll enjoy the game on the PS3 (though I'll give it a try) as Portal was one FPS game that REALLY demanded the kind of precision that dual analog can't easily provide. I bought the PS3 version because the Steam copy is included free, and that's how I intend to play the game.
So, here's the obvious question: is there anything in place to keep me from selling the used PS3 version after the Steam code has been redeemed? Hell, even if I can only sell it for around $35, Portal 2 would have essentially just cost me nothing...
It can't be that easy, can it?
PS3 version of Portal 2 just started looking better

Exactly what I've been thinking. I'm not sure, it does seem too good to be true. I'm not sure it's worth it for me, as I'd have to fanny about bypassing the PSN checks on my CFW PS3 or borrow somebody's legit PS3 just to create a PS3 Steam account, blah blah, you get the idea. It's inevitably going to be £5 on Steam at some point, I might just wait. Plus I can avoid giving money to Sony if I go this route as I have zero interest in playing it on PS3.

I played Portal with no trouble on the 360, so I imagine it would be fine on PS3 too.

Playing Portal on a console is crazy talk.

Someone please describe the process of linking PS3 and Steam accounts for me? I could care less about the PS3 copy, but a token Steam voucher would be just lovely.

Im not sure, but it sounds more like they are going to offer some sort of ps3 steam service that you can link to your pc steam account. It actually sounds really cool. They're saying you can cross-transfer save files so, lets say you stop playing on the ps3. Well, you can pick up from the same save point on the pc if you wanted to. Apparently, this integration of steam onto the console is the main reason why valve started focusing so heavily on the ps3 version. Newell said something like steam integration with xbox live just wouldnt work. I cant remember if it was technologically unfeasible or Microsoft was going to charge them an exorbitant fee but, either way, good. I support anything that supports free online gaming over pay-to-play (in this case, xbox live).

@Jonesy47: Thats not true about cloud saving. If you stop playing on one PS3 you can then continue on a different PS3 (same goes for PC to PC) but valve has said that they simply didn't have the time to get PS3 to PC cloud saves working.

I would rather play it on PC but my PC is too old to run Portal as well as my PS3, and my internet is too slow to run Steam very well, so I'm stuck with playing it on consoles for now.

This may sound crazy to some of you, but I actually prefer dual analog sticks.
I grew up on the dual sticks just as you guys did with the mouse and keyboard, the main reason being my PC has always been ass at playing actual PC games.
And I loved Portal for the PS3, everything felt in place, so Portal 2 should be just fine.
