Best PS2 sports games?

I'm guessing Tiger Woods is the way to go... just not sure if one version is better than another? Any special features or extras I should seek out on any one version?

I have Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2003 Which boasts 12 characters, 9 courses , 10 game modes and 6 mini games also "New EA sports trax" "Hot music releases from, Saliva, Paul Okenfold (whoever that is lol), Ash, 12 stones & more"

I would have to say the earlier the better as later Tiger Games seem to have gotten worse and stay away from '08 but 08 seems to have more golfers and more courses but tends to freeze up your system???


Edit: Stay away from all ps1 Tiger Woods Golf games for some reason I just do not like those ones at all I remember snapping 2000 in half lol and I have 99 which just seems so stff and the gameplay just isn't what it should be.

Paul Oakenfold is a techno guy. He scored that movie Swordfish. Anyway, thanks for the headstart... knowing which releases to avoid is just as important as which to check out.

Noise if you don't mind I would like to add a ps1 sports game. I know I will get flamed for saying this but if you like NBA JAM try NBA LIVE 98, I am not big on sports except football and baseball and when I say this game is fun trust me it's fun! It's very fast paced has great dunks and doesn't feel like a sim! It can feel like a sim (depending on your play style) but really when you get down to the gameplay to me it feels like 100% arcade fun. I do a lot of fast passing.

Maybe comparing it to NBA JAM isn't fair to NBA JAM because NBA JAM just has tons of content like hidden characters etc... shame I can't find a good video for it guess I know what's next for my youtube channel!

So you're good then! Like i said I don't really do too many sports games But I know there is a ncaa football game that they tear down the goal posts when you win the big bowl games......just not sure which year??? But would like to know because it was supposed to be the only year that was in NCAA football.

Uh some Madden games also have secret teams and fields create a team & stadiums plus card power ups. lets say for example 4th & 1 40 secs on the clock you could pause select a power up card "up the gut" securing an easy 1st then call timeout pause select "sticky fingers" throw for touchdown with almost guaranteed play making abilities!!!! I am guessing 2004????? Any help on this would be great also.

EDIT: I dug deep into my collection to confirm Madden 2004 has special teams
Marshals, Monsters, Sugar Buzz, & Mummies (quite possibly the closest you will get to mutant league football 3d) also confirmed is power up cards! I also have Ncaa football 04 I'll get back to you if it has the goal post craziness! (Ea Confirmed 2011 to be closest to 2004 as far as ingame features go)

EDIT EDIT! Madden 04 also has NFL Europe teams
Admirals, Claymores, Dragons, Fire, Galaxy, Thunder, plus NFL-E Alumni (guessing best players from nfl europe previous years???)

Hello, really didn't want to start a new forum so I decided to post here. So I am a huge sports fan and loving the classics, personally I love mvp baseball games but I wanna try to get into some maddens and nba live's. Is 2k basketball a lot better then nba live on the ps2? I know on the 360 2k smokes them but what 2k do you all recommend and madden? I'm a madden guy for life even I know 2k5 is good. Thank you
