I bought Gunstar Super Heroes brand new for $30, because I loved Treasure and Gunstar Heroes on the Genesis.
At first the game blew me away cause the graphics were really good. Then as time wore on I got out my Sega Genesis and played the original, and well... it was more fun. The GBA version took out 'mixable weapons', had fewer enemies on screen at once, lacked multiplayer I could use (I knew no one else with another copy of the game), and generally fell short of the original enough for me to notice.
Then a matter of months later the game dropped to $20. It didn't make me feel like I'd spent my money on something that would hold it's value very well. I look back on this as a purchase I wish I had waited for instead of buying close to launch.
Name a game you bought brand new and regretted. Or even a system, cause that's even more regretful.
Games you bought brand new and regretted
Re: Games you bought brand new and regretted
Game: Fable
preordered it and everything. i was so, so stoked on this game and totally believed the hype that gameinformer and everyone else was pitching at the time. it looked so awesome. and i started playing... and... well... i just fucking hated it. it was so bland, so... stupid. the characters had no depth, i felt like i had to fill in the gaps myself, which is not the type of RPG experience that i really enjoy. i've never liked most western RPGs (most, mind you), so the environment didn't really help either. i was bummed out.
System: DS
i didn't buy this one, my girlfriend at the time did. surprised me for christmas with one that she had to drive to ohio to get. i was so hyped on it and talked about it all the time and it was a really sweet thing for her to do for me, but over a short amount of time i just lost interest in it. i guess i don't really regret getting it but i regret being so hyped up for it and making my girlfriend really pissed off when i stopped playing it regularly about 2 months later. oh well.

Final Fantasy 13.
Bored me to tears.
The characters made my skin crawl, the fighting system was boring, every area was a glorified tunnel...
My complaints about the game aren't any different from other people who didn't like it really. The fact remains though, that I dropped 60 bucks on the damn thing and seriously regret it. I never got past the first disc. The game just did nothing for me.
Its time I got around to selling it, because I'm sure as hell not gonna play it again.

It has no soul, no personality, no likeable characters, no towns or villages to explore and despite being written by the composer who wrote FFXs best songs, no memorable music.
Everyone is a whiny child or just needs a stiff drink, there's so much depression and it's unbelievably linear. You can't even level up past what the game says you should be at that point (which, conveniently, is where you end up after fighting every enemy on the way from FMV1 to FMV2)
It wasn't amazingly received when it was released, but in my opinion Lost Odyssey will be the JRPG to go down as the best one of this generation. It's balanced, has a well written, touching story, conventional, if not polished battle system, good graphics and a nice feel. It may be an upscaled FFX with less "YIPEEE! HA HA HA", but that's nothing to scoff at - FFX was amazing as well.

King of Fighters XII.
I don't know what possessed me to buy it without heeding the reviews.
I still like it, but it's definitely not $60 good.
Not sure what else. I guess I could have waited for Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer (DS) to go down in price, but I don't regret having it.

Megaman Anniversary Collection for the 'cube.
Thought I was doing the right thing, keeping the Nintendo loyalty alive. Oh how I was wrong.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Lair...um, because I kept flying into walls. And generally had no idea what was going on.

Marvel vs Capcom 3.
I was so looking forward to playing this game since I love all the other vs series but was left with a sour taste in my mouth after playing this game. It completely changed everythng from the earlier ones and made it newb heaven. I completely hated it and with I haven't spent $70 on it.

I never had a problem with Lair. I actually think its a pretty good game.wootcube wrote:Lair...um, because I kept flying into walls. And generally had no idea what was going on.
Though, it's hard to not like a game where you get to ride around on a dragon and burn people.
If I had to pick one, it would probably be 3D Dot Game Heroes. Its a good game but, after about 15 hours in, I just got completely sick of it.
I haven't touched it since. I think I'd like it if it didn't make things so tedious in the world view. Why make me run around like that? I died more in the over world than I did in any of the dungeons. Thats not to say the temples/dungeons weren't challenging. In fact, they were perfect. Why make me go through all the crappy world puzzles that are just filled with frustration to get to the fun ones?
Well, my PS3 account got intruded into for the 2nd time a month or two ago, so, I'm playing through all my games again right now. I'll be going through it after Heavy Rain here soon. Maybe my opinion will change.
Older. Not wiser.

Same thing here. I was expecting to love it and pour countless hours into it. I don't exactly hate it, but I just really didn't like the game.swiftzx wrote:Marvel vs Capcom 3.
