Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition announced!

Post by Dennoman »

Well okay, technically someone broke the embargo on the stuff that was announced at Captivate. That makes the announcement unofficial, but it is final nonetheless.

Here's a rundown of the features (courtesy of EventHubs):

• This will be a DLC (Downloadable Content) release, a disc release was not mentioned.

• The console version will receive a "Supercharged online upgrade."

• The Replay Channel has been enhanced. My Channel now enables you to send your favorite replay data to other players.

• The Elite Channel will let people view plays of players with a PP total of 3,000 or more.

• A Replay Follower will be available, allowing you to track well known players. You can find them via a search.

• Support for additional alternative costumes.

• Character balancing tweaks from the Arcade Edition release.

• The titles you pick are now shown in game, along with BP (Battle Points) and PP (Player Points).

• Versus Battles against regular SSFIV players will also be supported, Capcom states "Get out there and duke it out with the version you like best!"

DLC? Better be $5-10 if they want my money. $20-40 for a disc is what I'd be willing to pay otherwise.

The new characters look pretty cool. I don't really care about the online stuff because I'm such an awful player I generally avoid the online multiplayer stuff to spare me the embarrassment. I hope theres like a bundle for 10 bucks which includes this DLC thing and all the costume packs. If it was 10 bucks for everything that would be sweet. But if its just 10 bucks for this upgrade, I'll probably pass. There are way too many more awesome games on PSN i'd rather get than an upgrade for a game I already have.

Most people put Fei Long up above Yun. Both are considered S tier though, kinda curious to see where Oni and Evil Ryu fit in with the tier list.

Also curious to see if they'll stick with the 2 extra character story, as I think there are going to be 2 more released for the arcade version.
